Just for a bit of a debate why are so many people wanting MON do you not think hes been out of the game a bit to long. This is not saying I dont want him I just would like us to maybe go for a little bit bigger target Benitez,Houllier , Ancelotti or Mark Hughes
Benitez + Ancelotti wouldn't come, Houllier- get Bent (oh wait...), so only Hughes or MON realistically.
Whoever comes will demand a war chest for January. Do we really think ES will splash out and increase the overdraft? I doubt it. We incurred our 'debt' with Keane in charge. Small price I suppose for getting us promoted. Brucie has only spent the money received from sales. I would expect this policy to continue. Yes, I know about the Bent and Gyan money. The fact it has not gone on players already would indicate that the money was needed to shore up the club's fiancial situation. Sooo, which manager would come to us without the promise of a substantial war chest?
there are only about 4-6 teams that will have a warchest though Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City then maybe Spurs/Liverpool, because its all on turnover now, you can have a little bit of debt, but not a lot, (there is a little bit more to the FFP than that, but its basically on turnover) so if someone is out of a job why cant we get them, especially if they have no chance at all getting one of those 6 clubs.
Hughes all day is my pick, as Moyes is a no go, he'd be the ultimate. Poyet or Lambert would be very good appointments potentially.
MON would be a very good appointment you could make, and for that reason I dont want to see it happen Seriously, the man has got results anywhere he has been. Leicester promotion and comfortable PL, moves to Celtic and immediate impact halting Ranger's emphatically with a treble after they had done 9 in a row, catapults Villa out of mid table obscurity to very nearly the top 4 until players that had been at the club (now this is important) that he had found a way to make them play good, just look and the rise in reputation of players such as Young, Barry etc under o'neills management. At the moment you have sone average players but also some players with the potential to be very good that are playing average. O'neill is the sort of man for the job of turning them around.
This is simple in my opinion, tactically he is far better than any manager we have ever seen at Sunderland. He is also a great man manager who gets the best out of his players. He has worked under the best and has an eye for a player as does Bruce imo, I think if he was to come to us it would send out all the right signals as it means the club meets his obvious ambitions.
Wot about the dream team ?? -- Viv Busby n Malcolm Crosby with Dennis Smith director of football ?? Sounds ok to me...
