Now that our play-off push is (apparently) back on track and expectations are high after a two match winning 'streak', I got to wondering about how Malky will be approaching the end of season run-in.

There seems to be a train of thought that DG will be off come summer as his goalscoring exploits will attract the big boys who throw money (that they don't generally have) at anyone who can manage to pop the ball in the net on such a regular basis. So where does that leave Malky?

He obviously must keep DG in the team, letting him continue his current rich vein of form and pushing towards 30+ goals for the season - thereby probably doubling both our chances of promotion and the liklihood of DG leaving in the summer.

Or, should he start grooming the Deeney/Sordell partnership to prepare for life-after-Danny, thereby possibly reducing the chances of promotion?

Or, should he start blooding some more of the Academy Young Guns now, so that they will have some experience under their belts if we do find ourselves going up next season, as opposed to being blooded in the Premiership?

But, if he does that, will that adversely affect the promotion chances - and bring the boo-boys out of their holes and onto his back?

I'm glad it's his dilemma and not mine!

He keeps playing danny as he has been, increases our chances of getting to the playoffs and increases his value (potentially). Whats fantastic is that we have options up front and are now safe, good times.

    Yes, I'm with Aberdeen...

Plan A: go all out to win every game. Danny scores more goals. Value goes up. We may even make the P-offs. Value goes up.

There can be no plan B. OK if with 3-4 games to go we've no chance then sure get Sordell and Deeney together and blood a few more youngsters whose value goes up (because of championship experience).

If the near-unimaginable does happen and we do get promoted then Plan C - expect to go down and use the time to develop the youngsters, whose value goes up with prem experience.

And with this rush of blood caused by the dizzy heights of the Championship, season ticket holders who dropped out this term, re-join because of the excitement (and maybe even the thought that they'll get PL footie at Championship prices). As a result the Club's cash-flow improves. How much good that does depends on the unknown state of the takeover group finances.

So by going for wins and hence promotion, I can't see any negatives - given that we do have at least one replacement for Danny. Now if Loach was the one to go....

Yes Leo we have ! I think we would be ok in the GK dept! I agree with Aberdeen and COYH ,whilst its on chase the dream ,If the dream happens ,we use the extra revenue on the ground refurb , and blood in more kids !DONT want to spend loads of money on imported players(like Elly)keeping the purse strings tight for when we launch the next championship assault!

I go along with that - if we get to the Premiership then use the money to make the ground up to standard and bring in youngsters with talent ahead of money grabbing "superstars" who will want paying over the odds even if they got us relegated

If we get promoted then Graham wouldn't leave for sure.

I don't even know who'd think of taking Graham out of the side! We still have a promotion chase on here!

Totally agree Madmoose - I would not consider dropping DG - if we get to the last few games and cannot get into the play offs I think Malky could try to see what other youngsters are nearing readiness but that's about it

MInd you - if we started today without him as Middlesboro seem to have built a game plan around him it might confuse things - then bring him on as a sub :)

I think MM will go 451 at the start with dg upfront and bucko and Troy on the flanks(an old 433)
