I started a simular thread on the old 606 before we made the promise land. The question i asked was which team will all the glory hunters be supporting when the likes of UTD, LIVERPOOL, CHELSEA etc visit the fortress? A mate of mine claims he's a Liverpool and Swansea supporter and regulary travels up to anfield to watch liverpool over swansea. He's now bought a season ticket for the swans, which really pee's off. Does anybody else find it hard how someone can call themselves fans of 2 teams playing the same league?

    WHERE WERE U LAST YEAR???????

King, I have ever since 1980 at the age of five followed both swansea and Liverpool. So I could be asked this question, I work up in Essex so only get home about once a month so don't get to watch many home games but over the season have managed to make approx 12 gamesso I would without doubt if I get a ticket be singing with the home posse against Liverpool but will still "support" liverpool.

I could of bought a season ticket but would rather have someone watch every game and hope that I am lucky enough to get to watch 'the jacks' when I come home but I will be there at all the gamea around London (knowing my luck tho will be home when they in london and away when they are home: ))

I know it's so irritating, but I suppose it increases the clubs revenue on the bright side, it's still hard to take though isn't it.

Heard today that a lot of Irish people have bought season tickets for the Swans. Living in Ireland, its the easiest place where they can see PL football.

So, they are not here to support the Swans, but to see the likes off Man Utd etc. Approx 42 Irish people have done this. SO thats 42 less Swans fans.

Ash, those Irish lads might well become 42 MORE Swan's fans. Agreed they are probably coming to see the glamour teams initially but they will make friends with our fans along the way and, hopefully, develop an affinity for our club. A widespread fan base can only help our cause eg: our support in Holland. Man Utd are the obvious examples where they derive massive world-wide merchandise sales.

I know we are tiny in comparison and could never aspire to their level but "every little helps". If Huw's statement regarding stadium expansion carries any credibility (no reason to think otherwise) then hopefully, in due course, we will be able to accommodate everyone who wishes to see our great team play football.

Well forgive me for saying this, the top six premier league sides leech fans from other areas, they basically take them away from supporting their local side, the amount of people I see here in Swansea supporting the likes of man u , Liverpool , Chelsea etc sickens me to be honest, they have a very good side playing football that puts to shame on their doorstep , and 15k average gates in the last 3 years!

Yes it's great we go up, but you got to ask why haven't we been getting full houses in the Martinez era or in the Rodgers era on a promotion winning season? I know we say local league football/rugby is partof the cause, and people won't sacrifice that, now how many are doing exactly that next season ? The biggest killer though is fans saying that teams like the above are better, but how can any smaller team get better when the support is not there?

I would never support anyone other than my local team! Though Dynamo Kyiv is close to me as I have seen them play over a 100 times over the years as I was living there, but the Swans is where my heart is, and where I spend my money.

Get this then, I take 3 other kids as well as my son to the Liberty, we're all season tickets holders and have been for a few years (a lot in my case). Anyway the reason I take these other 3 is because they're all mates and out of their dads 2 support Man Utd and the other 1 Liverpool and don't go near the Liberty. Already these kids have said to me they can't wait to go to Old Trafford and Anfield because they support Man U and Liverpool like their dads and expect me take them. Call me heartless but guess what? I've told them that if they want to go to these places and support the Swans then fine but seeing as they want to support the other team them I'm not taking them, they can get their own dads to do it. What hope is there when people think along these lines, a premier league team on the doorstep and still they encourage their kids to support other teams. I've been taking these kids since we moved in the Liberty and taken them to a minimum 10 away games per season too and still they prefer these big teams, well I tried my best but no away games for them anymore and this will be the last season for home games. I really hope that no one else has got a problem even remotely similair to mine.

Allright Aber, had a pint in your honor at Wembley, boy did I have some funny looks toasting a Bluebird but I tell you something I respect you a damn sight more than any glory hunter or any plastic we'll inherit for a season at least. No one can accuse the likes of us of being plastic that's for sure my old mate.

Anyway, what's happening at the CCS then ? Who's going to be the new manager and surely it's about time that chairman started digging deep.

    Does my head in!!

Spent ages writing an intellectual and witty response and suffice is to say I lost it by tapping the touch pad with my thumbs #chuffed

So instead its quick crass and to the point (Sorry)

It ****s me off when people go on about having two teams. I like watching Arsenal, Spurs and Barca... I don't consider myself a FAN. I support Swansea, they are my local team and I would go and see them (whether they played Premier league or Non League)

Gripped my **** when people would ask who I support... 'Swansea' I'd say
Yeh but who's your premier league side??
    **** off you daft Prick

Sorry If I have offended multi-faceted fans, you just do my ****ing head in.

    Once again apologies

I grew up a Liverpool fan in the late 80s due to family ties in that area and it was the club everyone supported at home. In 1992 Deano left for Villa and I became a fan of them for about half an hour before I realised I could just be a Deano fan instead!

Then came 1994 and my dad (who used to watch the Swans in their heyday) took me to Wembley to watch us play Huddersfield. From that moment I was hooked on the Swans and watched as part of the 1.5k crowds (on a good day), the Petty affairs, the Monster Munch days, and the three 'last games' at the Vetch.

I've been up to Anfield six times and if I got the chance I would go again because it's a special place and Liverpool are a team I wish all the best of luck to. When they come down the Liberty, however, I hope both teams play well and we beat them convincingly. It's games like this that I'm looking forward to but I renewed my season ticket before the final, and I'd still have one for League One if we ended up back there (L2 I'd probably pay on the day).

Everyone only comes to watch the Swans anyway - just takes them 90 minutes to realise it!

I know its a sore subject when people say theat they support other teams, but they do. Ive been an Arsenal fan for 26 years, and (until the play off final) the best, most memorable game ive ever watched was the 1989 Arsenal v Liverpool. Alot of older heads will be saying, you should always support Swansea, but, kids support fashionable sides, end of. Ive only been a Swansea city supporter since around 2002, but hopefully now we will become a 'fashionable' club and gain followers every year. In 2002, there were only 4000 down the vetch, lets hope we can get to 40,000 in the next 10 years.

I have to admit - I do have a soft spot for two other teams, Manchester United and Rhodes FC.

I do not consider myself a fan of either club, but I do makie a point of checking out their results, and if they win, I'll be happy. Man Utd because my dad has been a supporter for 31 years and his dad a supporter of 67 years. I like Rhodes FC because I have visited the Greek island 26 times on holidays and it is my second home.

But as I stated, in no way am I a "fan" of these teams. I am a Swan through and through. I can't see how you can really support two football teams tbh.

And therein lies the crux of how I define things. I'd actually say you are a fan of those teams, but you support the Swans.

IMO, a fan is someone who likes something, a supporter does their best to help something improve. I class myself a fan of Liverpool, Barcelona and Colorado (all sports), but the only club I support (financially and from the stands) are the mighty Swansea City.

Chris - I agree with what you sayh 100%. I'v never really thought of it like a "fan", until the way you worded it above. Thanks for clarifying that.

    tea agree with chris.

When I was a kid I supported Chelsea, I wasn't really in to football tbh, Rugby was more my sport, but all my other friends in school were fans of Man U and Arsenal. So I decided to pick a team to like, so I chose Chelsea, they weren't rich by then, but they were decent.
I've never seen a Chelsea match live, I went on a tour of the stadium once for my birthday.

But all kids who are interested in football will watch Match of the Day and support one of the big teams...It's natural. They will go into school and be those players when they play football, they watch and learn! (Giggs!:emoticon-0183-swear )

So I consider Chelsea as my second team, I will always want them to do well.
The only time I will differ is when they play us, and without a doubt I support Swans over Chelsea.

I think people getting angry at others for supporting another team as well as the swans are being a bit narrow minded tbh. Theres not a huge amount wrong with it.

In a few years it could be us that kids will be supporting, because they have seen Scott Sinclair score a hatrick against Liverpool or something like that.
We could overtake Arsenal as the best passing team in the Uk....(I think we are very close already mind)
