Okay, I'm being negative but I really don't see us going up this season. That being the case who will get shipped out to make room for the improvements we need to ensure we reach the promised land for 2013/14? Obvious ones to leave: - Keinan Naylor Parkin Taiwo Quinn Less obvious: - Heaton - he won't want to be Marshall's understudy for another year and we have Parrish waiting for his chance. Earnie - if Malky won't play him he needs to move on to get games to ensure he keeps his Wales place. Darcy - ditto Earnie. I don't want him to leave as he is a valuable squad member but he needs regular game time. Gerrard - wants regular games and unlikely to get them with Hudson and Turner in pole position. Youngsters: - Meades - has anyone seen him play? Wildig - don't think he has it for Championship. Evans - tries hard but looks awkward. Jarvis - has done well for Newport but at Conference level. He has got bigger and stronger but again I don't think he is up to Championship standard. And there are some other good youngsters waiting for a chance. Okay that's 13 in total and I have doubts as to how long McPhail can continue, unfortunately. Some of the above may be bound by contract but perhaps we can get some fees - Keinan, Darcy and Gerrard maybe. The squad gets slimmed right down again but Malky is in the driving seat already and will know most of those he wants to sign. Taking into account the little we have spent in the window perhaps he is going into the summer with a bulging purse and ready to do business. I know it is very early to raise this issue but why not? Thoughts guys please.
the group you haven't mentioned is any we may not want to lose. there may be interest from other clubs for some of our players. I think we have a loyal bunch now and would take a lot to turn their heads (don't see any sideways moves to a championship team), but whitts will be a target in the summer. Turner and Miller may be others. you are right though, a good core for next year but a bit more quality required. Losing 13 would be a strech and we'd need at least 10 to replace the 13. A few youngsters coming through would take up the slack. Looks like another busy summer for MM whatever division we are in!
Very true ccfc, particularly Whitts who has been so loyal and even rejoined us from Forest!!!! FACT!!!! I would hate to see him go but good money for him would open up more possibilites for us in the market. May still be early days for Turner and I couldn't see Kenny going back to Rangers on pittance wages - probably only Celtic could afford him up there now and they are not that flush. In fact a couple of the "right" signings in the summer would give more encouragement to Kenny to stay on.
Blue! I think this thread is relevant and even more so if we fail to bag three points tomorrow. My concern is Whitts who is key to next season but deserves to play on the Premiership stage. Some good youngster coming through the ranks.Tom O Sullivan is a lad that shows promise for the future. I tell you what concerns me most,is that a lot are saying we need to ship out around 8 to 10 players. This season if Malky does fail to take us up many say it's because he had to rebuild from scratch,so wouldnt this ring true and offer an excuse for next season if we fail?
Whits is currently playing himself out of a premiership move imo. I'm confident we'll have him at the start of next season. Turner is the most obvious PL class player we have imo, we could face a fight to keep him but would expect a very healthy profit if he did go.
I wonder if Cov have a share of any outgoing transfer fee in their agreement? Overall from what we have seen £750k was a snip. ITI Of those mooted to leave on my list none were Malky signings so he can't take responsibility for them if they haven't shaped up. I don't see this as giving Malky any excuse. Assuming those numbers go, he will have a squad comprising of 80% plus players he brought in. Now if they were to fail that would be a different issue although I recall him saying it was a 2 to 3 year project. I couldn't see us all being quite so patient this time next year were it all to go tits up again.
Is Heaton's contract up in the summer? I'm sure i read somewhere it was. So we may not have much choice with that one!
