Cole, Gerrard, Aquilani, Carragher, Kuyt & Maxi on combined wages of £30m p.a, 25% of total wage bill so some of these players need to be sold. Cole for certain should leave and so should kuyt and maxi. All 3 are not worth the salary they are on despite them being decent players. For Cole to be earning 90K a week is ludicrous for a team not in the CL. Furthermore negotiations with Carragher for a lower contract need to begin, but one doubts if he would accept as there would be no incentive to do this. Spearing should be sold as he isn't good enough and Wilson/Shelvey both sent out on loan preferably to premier league clubs. I dont see a future for Darby, Pacheco and many other reserve team players and aurelio left to Gremerio earlier today
In a perfect world I'd like to see Adam, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Kuyt and Maxi go with replacements being signed. But I think given we cant replace all these players, Keep Henderson, Downing and Carroll. Sit them on the bench as they could still be useful squad players but have to earn their place in the side given their poor performances last year.
Kuyt, Maxi, Spearing, Cole, Aqua.. And carra too retire. Hopefully we will have 40-50mil too spend after that
In a perfect world only we would go after the perfect low-priced player guaranteed to fit in immediately and get 20+ goals per season. Because obviously they're so easy to spot. I just wonder why nobody was telling Newcastle fans at the time that Carroll had no talent, no potential and no future. He's just another Lucas Lei...oh, hang on a minute... A 50% success rate in the transfer market is about the best any manager can expect. Getting rid of everybody who's spent a season settling in, at a cost to our league placing but as an investment in the rebuilding, does not mean everybody who comes in is going to settle any better. Adam has been injured so can't be assessed realistically. Carroll is delivering after the work KK and SC put in adapting him to our game. In a matter of days he went from 'waste of money' to "Kenny should've started him at Wembley and Hodgson should pick him for England." Henderson has the most potential in the entire squad and works hard to realise it. MotM against Arsenal in a team of MotM performances and he was played out of his preferred position without any whining at all. He put his head down, got on with it and whipped in some killer crosses along the six-yard box. Only a dumbass or a media muppet would let him go Downing is a confidence player and fans on his back isn't going to make it any better but if Kenny can't make him feel it then maybe he'll need to go next season. At the price we paid he's worth persevering with at least until January. We need left-footed left wingers. No more Babels, please! Kuyt and Maxi are old enough to go or stay. It's up to them to accept a bench place at Liverpool or regular footy at somewhere like Feyenoord or Osasuna. Carra's place on the bench is moving further and further back. Time to take the coaching badges and enter the Legend scrapbook because Coates is going to be ahead of him in future.
I think you need to name your 25 man prem squad and exclude maxi, kuyt and cole, aquilani etc.... then and only then can you see what we need and who else should go or stay. 1. reina, doni 2 johnson, kelly 3 enrique LB 4. carra skertl 5. agger coates 6. lucas spearing 7. gerrard adam 8. downing LW 9. Bellamy RW 10. suarez carroll 11. ST ST erso IMO to get shut of downing and adam on top of aquilani and cole and kuyt and maxi is impossible for one summer unless you are city...... IMO cole and aquilani are nothing but millstones. we must replace kuyt and maxi and add a striker AND must see the central midfileld is bloody awful.
