Whether you agree with Kenny leaving or not, it was done at the right time and, it seems, with the good grace that Kenny deserved......I just hope that a successor is named very soon so that we get the entire closed season to plan accordingly. But who? Martinez would be the mother of all risks imo...... Rafa gets my vote.....he has unfinished business at Liverpool and bar his last year when he was not backed by the muppets, he ensured that we qualified every year for the CL......albeit once by actually winning the bloody thing! and before i get whacked by the anti-Rafa brigade.....please stop to consider, with the benefit of hindsight, what he did for the club. If he'd of been financially backed at the right time, we'd of had half of the Spanish world cup winning squad at Anfield and we'd of won the league, this i'm sure of. He also knows many of the players at Anfield. There are other managers I'd like to see but realistically, I can't see them coming to Anfield right now.
Wouldn't mind Rafa back to bring back the glory days and the Spanish connection, but he was very stubborn and his tactics and victim mentality infuriated me at times! We need someone youngish though, and that's what hte owners have always said they'd go for
Bob Bradley...... Only kidding, klopp would be awesome, AVB could be good if the players took to him. Pep maybe a long shot? Tough call.
The owners will not go back to Rafa, I think they stated that a while back. If you're going for Martinez then why not Brendon Rodgers? Think it will be hard to prize away a manager from one of the top clubs in Europe so there isn't that many options.
Fair comment....I feel that part of kenny's undoing was the poor PR that our sponsors were associated with....unfortunately, this is as much part of the game as kicking the ball on a field these days - Would Rafa be any better with new owners? Who knows! AVB then?
Lambert would also fit the bill - AVB, Rodgers, Lambert et al all decent managers but all high risk if the goal is to qualify for CL at the first time of asking!
I agree if Martinez is considered then why not Rogers he's done an even better job and you get Liverpool playing great football. Don't think it will be either, FSG will approach Mourinho imo don't know if he would consider it though.
Rafa would be the safest bet. I would not be upset with that, but is it wise to go back twice? I can say Pep, but was he their Kenny? Would he have the same success here? AVB did not travel well the last time, who says, he will ever repeat what he has done in the past? Any ex-players take your fancy? Steve Nicol? I just hope it's not Steve Clarke, that's not promoting from within, he's only been here a year, but the fact that he was at the Rounders match does make it a possibility... I think Rafa, just to finally see off Fergie
Alex McLeish is available. Only kidding. Hope you get sorted asap. The Premier League NEEDS a strong, competitive Liverpool, firing on all cylinders.
I agree Rafa would be a "safe bet" = I could see us challenging for and getting into the top 4 under him, but I'm not sure if we would ever do any better than that. I think that FSG will probably not go for the safe option though, and will instead gamble. I just hope we don't go for Deschamps. He is overrated imo and I've never much enjoyed watching the way his marseille side plays
I wouldn't be against bringing back Rafa. Let him buy a few Spanish players, if he brings in some good quality then I reckon we'll be pretty secure. Let's hope he adopts man-marking if he does return!
I would give my right arm for Mourinho, he has the midas touch - a real genius imo......I think he has an affinity to Liverpool from his days with Chelsea, despite the animosity at the time.....and it would probably appeal to his ego......but I also doubt it feasible! Shame, i guess for a few more days/weeks we can dream eh?
Perhaps they could have an X factor or 'footballs got talent' live show to allow the audience to choose a manager?
