Just been told that Leeds may be looking at Luciano Spalletti as next manager. Who? Not heard of him, is he known to Cellino?

Just got sacked by Zenit St Petersburg in the last 24 hrs! At first sight, he seems to have a pedigree well above our pulling power.

Russian side Zenit St Petersburg have sacked head coach Luciano Spalletti. Ex-Russia international Sergey Semak, 38, has been appointed Zenit's acting head coach. Italian Spalletti, 55, joined the club in December 2009 and won two Russian Premier League titles as well as the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup. But Zenit dropped to second in the league at the weekend and lost 4-2 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Borussia Dortmund. Hulk (left) and Axel Witsel were Luciano Spalletti's biggest signings while head coach of Zenit. The team, who are owned by state-controlled gas company Gazprom, have only won one of their last 11 competitive games - a run stretching back to October because of the Russian winter break, which only ended at the weekend. Spalletti has also managed Italian clubs Empoli, Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona and Roma and made a number of expensive signings during his time at Zenit. In September 2012, he bought Brazilian striker Hulk from Porto and Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel from Benfica for a combined total of £64m. Spalletti was the first coach to lead Zenit into the knockout stages of the Champions League, but they lost 4-3 on aggregate in the last-16 against Benfica in 2011-12. The Russian club will exit the competition at the same phase this year, unless they beat Dortmund in Germany by a three-goal margin in the second leg on 19 March.

Not sure I would want a foreign manager to take charge, nothing against foreigners but it tends to take time for them to adjust even more so to the championship. I like lower league experience with managers taking over in the championship, I don't find its as necessary when in the prem though (although that may sound weird).

Morning all. Having acepted that autos have now gone (keep up for those who haven't been following this thread), I think last night showed that top 6 might now be beyond us!!!. 'kin' dire was as polite as one can be on this site. That said, we did create enough decent chances to get a draw.

I now really worry for Saturday. If we hoof the ball around as we did last night for much of the game, Burnley could easily declare their score at half time & go down the pub. We still wouldn't score enough.

Whilst he's still contributing with his physical presence and a few goals, how do we fit Smith into the team and not then play hoofball? How was Austin last night? Should Brown come back in to shore up the midfield? Was Zaliukas as bad as he sounded? All in all, a bad night at the Office, but at least we scored a couple to keep the score respectable.
