Really don't see Wigan getting more than 37

About three weeks ago, I had your team as potential saviours for us as you had Sunderland and Stoke to play. They've now put successive wins together, it's changed the scenario again.

You can be your own saviours. You beat Villa at home, and that's you safe. Every single one of us, except for Newcastle, has one very winnable away game left. And if we all win that game, then it's absolutely a straight fight between Wigan and Villa, and which can pick up the most points in their other games.

To be fair I have got Wigan on 41 as well, beating WBA, Villa and Swansea to get there and only losing to Arsenal. I'm pretty sure they are still capable of doing that.

I still find it amazing, given how few games there are left this season, just how many matches there are still to come between teams who are both not yet mathematically safe.

But as I say above, if we all win the home head-to-head game that we largely all have, then the impact of all these games is very quickly diluted, as nothing really changes.

Wigan getting another nine points looks a pretty long shot to me.It would mean beating WBA in Baggieshire and Villa at home.I think draws would be the best that they could realistically hope for.Could beat the Swans if they are having an off day.5 points?

If Wigan are in touching distance of Villa come the last day, I think Wigan will win. Not only do they experience of surviving, but don't they also have experience of surviving at their opponents expense? Didn't they directly send down Sheffield Utd and West Ham in recent years on the last day, whilst securing their own survival at the same time?

Plus, I just think Wigan are a better allround team than Villa.

Arsenal don't have a good record against Wigan, do they? Just checked and their last 6 league games against each other have been Wigan winning twice, Arsenal three times and one draw.

We might as well sack off the rest of the season and just play that game. If Wigan win they stay up, if Villa draw or win they are safe. It's definitely gonna happen.

QPR and Reading are busy proving they are the worst two teams in the PL. Dire stuff!

They mentioned that QPR had got about a point a game since Harry arrived...shows that if you keep out of the mire even a poor team (if consistent) could be safe and shows how important points on the board are. We have lost the odd game and remained out of bottom three, but it is really hard to pull yourself out of it. A win and you are still down there...soul sapping.

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that QPR and Reading will get relegated.

I get what you're saying. The problem is Villa have scorers, we don't and WBA being safe will be more relaxed than us. Then we have Man City away who have always been a bogey side, even without their millions.

The team I have a sneaky suspicion of going down is Newcastle. Arsenal, West Ham and QPR and I can see them getting four points at most.

For Norwich to go down, so many teams would have to go on an amazing run; there's a reason why they're where they are.

In the past, Saints got results to save themselves when desperate, but still can't see beyond Wigan/Villa. I suppose the damage to Newcastle's GD may be important...who would have thought at the start of the season that they would be involved at the wrong end?

QPR and Reading both down...no one looked particularly upset, but I suppose they knew all they were doing was delaying the inevitable. I remember the devastation when we were relegated, but we had been up 27 years and still had a chance on the last day.
