Helical Bar lodges West London 1,150 homes plan | Tue 24th July | Developer Helical Bar has submitted plans to build 1,150 new homes as part of the redevelopment of an industrial site in White City, west London. The 10-acre mixed-use development, to be called Brickfields, is planned for the former Dairy Crest site and will involve extensive demolition works. The brick-built homes will be a mixture of affordable, shared ownership and private, with the exact proportions of each still to be decided. The developer and partner Aviva Investors also plan to build 150,000 sq ft of offices, retail and community facilities. The site is part of the mayor of Londonâs and Hammersmith and Fulhamâs White City Opportunity Area, earmarked for regeneration. Matthew Bonning-Snook of Helical Bar said: âWe are extremely excited about our proposals for Brickfields. âThe Eric Parry design code for the masterplan uses a predominantly natural palette of brick and stone to create sustainable and attractive buildings which, alongside the public realm and amenities, will form a genuine new London community.â Was this one of our possible sites for the new stadium?? a bit of competition
Taarabt in my Kitchen ( think its you mate, apologies if not and to the genuine source) has been telling us for months that this is the case. Don't think it has ever been a possibility.
45k, plus other amenities (hotel?) needs a decent size site. Agree Goldie that west is looking likely, but the further west we go, the more difficult it will be to fill for football and other events unless transport from centre of town is fast and on the doorstep. Harrow is too far out, don't believe this for a second. Though I grew up there and a few mates had apprenticeships at Kodak, so some sentimental attachments.
Well......there's always ron noades' dream of turning western int'l market into a footy ground. its m4 jct3 - downside: no trains or tubes. Why not try and share twickenham rugby ground - its massive, has a train station, on site parking, m3/m4/m25 all within 10-20mins
We've had this discussion - local council rules restrict the number of events they can have there, non starter. And even the most ambitious of us may balk at 82,000 seats.
Non starter, the local residents have to agree with the RFU as to how many events are held at Twickenham.
We definitely wont be sharing with any other tenants, we want our own ground and as close to central London as possible. If we move further west it will make our new multi purpose stadium less attractive as a venue. It may serve our purpose but part of our financial model is to make the stadium pay for itself, and generate revenue for the club in years to come by holding multiple events and concerts. We want it around 45k as this will be the middle ground between Wembley and the 02, giving us a niche market, but only if it is close to central London and road, rail and tube access. But it wont be easy to find the right sight, the Unigate site was perfect for us, unfortunately the takeover came a couple of years to late. But hopefully the board can pull off some small miracle and surprise us all. If at all possible, Wormwood scrubs is a big empty open space which already has a small stadium. It would be worth offering H&F council a small fortune and community facilities to let us build there. Who knows.
This is exactly why Beard should have been back in London sorting out what are his priorities instead of going on a jolly round the far east. If this site gets permission as a residential site the valuation of the site will be far too high for it to be feasible for us. If it is viewed as an industrial site then we have a great chance. Down to the council really.
Aviva already bought the site for around £150 a couple of years ago. That already prices us out, was just a case if we could buy in to the development. And I just that Beard wouldn't have gone on the trip if he was needed here, these things are slow paced so no need to be on it everyday. Plus Amit and Mike Rigg were both at HQ so all was as normal.
Its horrible, main roads to the N and E, tube to the W and what looks like as warehouse to the S. I wouldnt like to live there.
We won't be moving too far out as we need to be a 'London club' and you can't flog something as London if you have a stadium out in the counties. We need to stay as close to SB/W12 as possible and they know that.
