Yep, we have appointed Alan Curbishley as First Team Technical Director (whatever that means). Interesting to see what that means, as from the outside it looks like a very fancy way of saying assistant manager?
Rene is reported as saying, "It was something the club had been discussing even before I had joined Fulham so that was always on the cards. We've been looking for the right sort of person and we are 100% convinced we have found that in appointing Alan Curbishley." "I'm going to be in charge of the running of the first-team on a daily basis and Alan is just going to be another member of the first-team staff." "I'm delighted he's chosen to join us because to have a senior member like him on board with the vast experience he has in the Premier League gives me a great soundboard to bounce off from and get results and hopefully it gives us an even better chance of staying up in the Premier League.â Source: http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_0_23231_-.html Putting job titles aside - they just confuse any understanding - let's hope the appointment is to help Rene through the 'multi-tasking' January window period and enable him to concentrate on team tactics and fitness.
we can stay up, as long as we defend, we are making chances and scoring goals, make you think we should of sacked jol after the Liverpool game, I am sure we would have had at least 2 points more,
In heinsight traveller that is very true. As someone who wanted Jol to succeed agree that looking back he should have gone sooner. Interesting signing of curbishley, not sure what his style of play was as Charlton manager, although I think Scottie worked with him then. Rene made it quite clear that he will be part of the coaching team and that he feels he is the right man. It is nice to see him building the foundations for our future. Welcome on board curbs.
He always got slated by a lot of people - outdated philosophy, tactics etc - personally, I didn't have an opinion only that he did well at Charlton for a number of years. So will wait and see whether The Mule's statement was the 'corporate' got to put on a positive face. I hope it works out.
