Just put up a "Public Notice" threatening to hang people - it worked on the 'Garry Monk' thread :)

The way Jenkins dealt with Laudrup showed his complete lack of class, and that made him a chump in my eyes.

Had he behaved in a more dignified, civilised and grown up manner,I wouldn't have any comment to make.

No "joke",just a FACT. Monk has so much to do to get anywhere near Laudrup, in so many ways.

Laudrup certainly enjoyed a successful first season with us - but a "great" Manager?

If you are looking at Managers of initially Swansea Town, now Swansea City - then he is certainly up there with Tosh and Rodgers as a very successful Manager in the top division of the English League.

For me great Managers include Ferguson, Busby, Clough, Chapman, Wenger - I don't see Laudrup (yet?) in that category.

    Hopefully,you are not serious,Valley.
To close any thread because some people don't like the subject/content would set dangerous precedents.
The Monk/Laudrup debate will go on,at least for a couple of seasons, until Monk can achieve what Laudrup did.
If he does that, then The Board, and their supporters, can gleefully announce,"we told you so".
At which point, those who defended Laudrup would have to rethink their position, and being true gents, accept that Monk has been a worthy successor.
Until then Monk is merely a pretender, and has actually achieved/won NOTHING to date.

Well,Taff,he was a great Manager when he took the team into the top half of the table, and won a major Cup. Can you dispute that?

Of course, his achievements pale into insignificance alongside the names you mention, but it's all relative, and they had more than 18 months in which to impress.

I've just reread this thread and can find no instance, other than in Dai's post, where the word "great" is used.

This is where I thought that you were stating / using the word "great" - albeit it by "implication". If I am incorrect - apologies.

I agree that he was very successful (in Swansea terms) in taking us into the top half and winning the League Cup. I only question the use of the word "great". <cheers>

Did Laudrup's team really impress at any point after the beginning of Feb 2013?

Regarding the cup win, I agree the wins against Liverpool and Chelsea were impressive, but from the point we got thrashed by Liverpool before the League Cup final I can't recall one properly decent performance - can you?

We clung on to the top half with 44 points and finished the season at the head of a host of mediocre teams.

I think one of the reasons for Laudrops dismissal was his appalling use of Bony
