anyone else heard the rumour that this was actually written by truman capote ? oh, Ive come over all queer after writing that.
I know to do that now .....and Im a firm believer in the " both barrels from behind " philosophy these days.
I've heard lots of these type of rumours. The most ridiculous one was that Queen Elizabeth wrote most of Shakespeare's works but, because she was a woman, she wouldn't have got published. She was the Queen for ****'s sake
I'd agree with To Kill A Mockingbird. Read it in primary school and it was like nothing else I'd ever read. I'd also put American Tabloid by James Ellroy in there.
That is one of the most ludicrous things I've ever heard. She used to chop people's heads off for walking in the crakcs on the pavement so I hardly think she'd have had problems getting a play put on anywhere!
1984 for me. Made the mistake of watching the film version of Animal Farm before I read the book. There was no real plot or dialogue but the famous quote 'All animals are equal but some are more equal than others' was definitely the case when that horse got aroused.
Animal Farm by George Orwell. When the video went round our school I was expecting to see an allegory of communism amongst farm animals, seems I got the wrong end of the stick and ended up watching a man f**king a chicken. Turns out the VHS of Animal Farm was something entirely different from the book.
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Not everyone's cup of tea but simply my favourite book just in front of Lord of The Rings.
