No one on our forum seems to be talking football so i will bore you with what i watch in British Columbia..

The Vancouver Canucks (Ice Hockey) finished top of the NHL after 82 games...and now play the 8th placed team the Los Angeles Kings..
They play best of 7 and are down 3 games to 0..so could be out in four..

The Vancouver Whitecaps (football) are in their second season of the MLS...and have 2 wins 1 loss and 2 draws so far.
    average home gate 21000...

now that i have bored you all...i watched Wigan beat Arsenal today...another great escape...

I watched the Spurs Chelsea game..we really need goal line tech. don't we...even a Ref on the line would help..

In all the sports i watch...Argyle are still the best for me...

I wear a Steve McQueen shirt.....The Great Escape..

BC.........the shirt is too much information.........I was interested until that moment.

If the bottom two draw only one match each we are home and dry.........and then you can wear your shirt.

Keep it on just for now as long as it has no references to Macclesfield or Hereford on it. They would have to perform the great escape now to avoid the trapdoor. I think we are home and dry but it is still down to the maths to confirm it before we break open the champers.

You watch more sport than I do. No reference to American Football thank goodness as I don't think that is a sport anyway. It's a sort of cross breed between all sorts of sports but sadly not as good as any of them. I tried watching it once and that was enough for me.

I think, although I doubt you do, that you have been lucky to be spared the spectacle of having to watch Argyle for the last couple of years. It has been the most painful period in my history I think or at least most prolonged. Bad seasons yes previously but not such a sustained period as this. Hopefully that is at an end now and next season will see the first in a long time that isn't desperate. People have been complaining about the crap football this season but to be honest what do they expect. We had a team of kids at the start and were lucky even to be able to put out 11 players at all. We were dead and burried after the first 10 games but here we are on the brink of salvation which if they are honest few expected. I am like an indulgent parent when it comes to the greens though, able to forgive quite easily and always hopeful of it's future. Somebody has to be.

I'm rooting for Paul Sturrock & Southend - Barnet & Macclesfield to play yet.

Sensible..I think what put me off American Football was the use of the word "football"...and of course it has to be "Soccer" for our game..

But like the beer you get used to it..( i can't believe i said that)..

    Have a good day..

Now that is a saying I could do without.... "Have a good day"........what if you aint having a "good day".........I bet they would'nt want to hear about it........you might be recently bereaved or lost your job or smashed the car up.........or Argyle have just lost and are Conference bound.......it's such a meaningless glib american saying............I can just imagine someone grabbing them by the throat and getting told about the crap day that they have had so far.

Most of us have at some time seen highlights of "grid-iron" and are totally gob-smacked how in real time it goes on forever, stop start, stop start........and it's only four fifteen minute sections.......one hour that can last, what, upto three hours or so......the last few seconds can last an eternity if the scores are close.........players wrapped up in cotton wool........looks more like a girlie game.

I love gridiron football - wouldn't you have wanted to play it? Organised violence from start to finish, all that hitting & blocking off the ball, mayhem mmmmmmm.

Mind you, that's not totally dissimilar to how I played soccer......

Hi BC....sorry about that.......I just feel that it would be far more meaningful if someone asked you how you were today, and then you could respond........but just to be told to "have a good day" whatever, just sounds uncaring in regards to how you might be.

Plymborn, I did a job where I came into contact with people, ie. the public at large, all of the time. When I first started I always greeted people with "hello, how are you keeping". I learned very quickly that is not the question to ask when greeting. Problem was that most of them told me and sometimes it took ages to actually get to the point of the contact but I was in possession of their entire medical history. I found even "good morning or afternoon" to be a trial sometimes as some thought they should argue with the words as if it was a statement on their lives. At least "have a nice day" is a statement of hope and a wish for the other person even if it is American and not the British way.

I always knew you were a thug in disguise notdistant. I only ever played the game in the purist of fashions. Not very well it's true but very sportsman like. I might have even played against you given the description of your game though. You would have had to have played before around 1985 though as my legs gave out after that.

plymborn is a bit tired and tatchy right now. It's been a long season for the poor old bloke.

Bet you wish you were at the game AWAYINBC but it's a long old poke from where you are. I'll look out for a bear and if I see one I'll say "hello, have a good day" just to make you feel at home. I have a feeling that the stay ups and downs will be done this weekend irrespective of Argyle's result although I'm of course rooting for 3 points. Are you up early or late right now?

The wildest things I get anywhere near me is firstly the wife and then a couple of foxes and a hedgehog from time to time. My Mrs is a bit more formidable than a grizzly and I wouldn't let her off that easy if she was 200 yards down a shooting range.

The only time I get up at 7am these days is when the bladder demands it but I soon retire again.

Now where's the fun in that Sensible? I didn't say I wasn't a sportsman anyway; I'd never kick a man while he's down. I might have kicked a few while they were standing standing up though, how else are you supposed to stop them when they are better than you?

Oh an PS, that's the beauty of gridiron, the violence & brutality is all WITHIN the rules!
