Hi everyone Ok, I'm a bit bored and a bit of a nerd so I did some research. Have a look at the link below. http://bigthink.com/ideas/26493 I know its London, but I did always wonder where Chelsea fans come from! Could be interesting anyhow to footy aficionados. Back to Saints, I saw an article in the Echo, something to do with Saints and Pompey fans distribution around no mans land known as Fareham.......a museum in West Street, where you could put a pin on the map coloured with your allegiance. Anyone had a look? Also, while I'm at it, the Isle of Wight. Saints or Pompey, I'm thinking probably more Saints, Fran ,you would probably know?
I grew up in Chichester and there are actually a surprising number of other Saints fans from the same area (although we have to keep it quiet as it's most definitely Pompey territory!)
If you're severely colour blind like me, that is the most confusing and utterly pointless graph ever!
Even if you're not color blind it's still confusing. I used to make maps like that for my job and my boss would always hammer something like that. He'd to the legend, pick a category, and then try to find the corresponding color on the map. If he couldn't tell without doubt then he'd tell me to change it. Good lesson, that.
I used to be the occasional night's pub quizmaster, when I lived in the Weald of Kent. One night, I asked the two teams who their football aliegance was to. Out of 8 blokes, 4 were Saints supporters, and I made a 5th. They were all blokes who would have known Saints from the 1960's, but they all came from Kent. That's some catchment area.
Which bit of the Weald out of interest? Seen a Saints shirt in someones window in Tunbridge Wells (or Twells as I like to call it) and met one guy at a sports centre. We get around.
I live just outside Bognor Regis and I know quite a few Saints fans. Definitely Pompey area but they seem to be keeping quiet currently. I wonder why?
I live in Bristol and there's about 4 other Saints fans in my school, and I've seen a couple of people running around in Saints shirts. Also when i was heading homa after playing football in my Saints shirt a bloke said "nice shirt" as he passed me. There's definitely a few in Bristol!
Can't remember which Wealden pub the Away team came from, but the Home team were from Headcorn, Egerton Forstal, Pluckley, that sort of thing. I worked at the weekends back then too [retail], but in Ashford. There was another bloke in my village [EF] who never came into the pub, and after a year of us being there I spoke to him while he was walking his dog. He went to every Saints home game, and all the London based away games.
I had a mate at uni from Burnley who was a Saints fan, and on a recent stag do in Poland we met a load of Irish lads and a couple of them were Saints fans too. We had a nice sing song together before eventually being asked to shut up by the barman (who was most likely a P***** fan!).
Just remembered, met a Hungarian saints fan in one of those horrible sports bars in London. It was during chaplows first stint I seem to remember. Why are you a saints fan I naturally asked. He told me that when he was young, he wrote to all the division one clubs for info/bumf, and saints were the only club to reply, sending a load of stuff. I like that story, nice fella too, he really loved the saints.
