trying to kill our club, I ****ing hate these stories
Jose Mourinho is understood to be ready for a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, with England assumed to be his next destination. Real are searching for a new tactician at the helm and Mourinho’s former assistant Andre Villas-Boas is said to be the Spanish club’s top choice.

AVB has had less than a season at White Hart Lane but the Portuguese manager has impressed a great deal by taking Tottenham to the top three in the Premier League while also keeping their run in the Europa League alive. AVB’s former link with Mourinho at Porto and Chelsea would make him an ideal replacement as he will fit right into the current coaching setup at the La Liga club.

The Metro believes that Real could be planning a swoop for AVB in a bid to facilitate their move for sensational Welsh winger Gareth Bale, who has been on Los Blancos’ radar for more than a year. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will not be too pleased with this news and he will speed up his plans to offer AVB a new and improved deal to keep him at the club on a long term basis.

Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez and former France coach Laurent Blanc are understood to be other names on Real’s wishlist but AVB is their primary target and they will try hard to lure the manager away from White Hart Lane this summer.

    Where'd the story come from?

Unfortunately this is something you'll have to put up with. This is nothing compared to the press attacks on Chelsea from 2000-2010.

I highly doubt AVB would walk out on Spurs, nor is he ready to take on a job as big as Real. Real are just an even worse version of Chelsea when it comes to impatience and sacking managers. AVB is all about long-term ism. Unless Levy pisses him off, you needn't worry.

Press attacks on Chelsea??? The press were fawning over Mourinho, even when he declared a fatwa on Anders Frisk, and link everyone else's players to them rather than link all their players to other clubs.

The press hated Mourinho at first. I can remember a game away at WBA when Mourinho dared to send the players out 1 min late and dared to celebrate a late goal and the press were all over him.

Lets not forget the open debates and headlines in the press about Chelsea "ruining football" only a month after winning the league and previously when Vialli fielded an all foreign XI.

I don't take much notice of any of it. The English tabloid press always have to have a pantomime villain, somebody they can encourage the rabble to boo at. Whether it be a player or a manager.

Bit of a switch from the crap that was hurled at him in the summer.
I'm getting a bit sick of our personnel being linked with Real, but that's probably a good sign, I suppose.

Typical cock and bull. The problem is because of our weakness on the financial front we will always be in the frame for a constant stream of these
crap pieces . Till we can hold on to our best players, pay the wages, buy top players and win the odd thing , it will never change.

Only one club has the respect of the English tabloids and we all know who that is. When was the last time you heard a United player being linked to another club?

Not in all cases, DL. Some aspects of the Spanish press are effectively mouthpieces for their two biggest clubs.
It allows them to create a buzz about certain players and works to unsettle them. Makes signings easier and prices lower.
Disgusting way to do things, of course, but I can't see it changing with this bloke in charge of the game:

Surely "respect" is a strong word. More like they are scared to publish anything derogatory given that club's power and influence!

Journalism in this country is way different though. We don't report facts in this country just gospel and heavy political bias.

Marca are obviously Real's mouthpiece and Barca have their own Catalan ones.

You would think AVB is looking for stability in his career...why go into the hire n fire spotlight in Madrid. I doubt immensely how a perceived failure at Chelsea, followed by one reasonable 2/3 of a season at Spurs are credentials that excite the Bernabeu. Imbecile reporting.

AVB is really mercurial, isn't he? He's gone lickety split from not good enough to too good to manage Spurs. Could it be that there is no possible level of success which will keep a manager at Spurs? Or is the problem that journalists tend to make up crap about Spurs because it seems to sell, and plays into the Redknapp-Levy history of hold-onto-your-hats-anyone-might-come-or-go.

When will people learn the press pull names and clubs out of a hat to link them. This article also links Benitez with Real yet they had absolutely no interest in him for all the time he was out of work.
