Isn't it amazing what you learn from the horses mouth! I saw my cousin tonight for the first time in about 6 months! He played for Grimsby town 10/11 and said how bad the two Management team were! He said how Rob Scott was a complete idiot and treat them like ****! He said one time he came in from a match and Scott called them all C@&ts and literally told them to fu@k off put of his sight! He now plays for another team and says the discipline is firm but fair! I wonder what Bruce treats his players like!!
I think It's one of those things, where it's a very fine line, You can be too strict and the players will dislike you for it, or you can be too 'pally' and the players will like you, But the team selections and results may suffer. As a manager It's hard to get the balance right, But if you do, it can pay off, If not you'll be slated for it. I also think it depends on the players. At city we have alot of young players who need 'education' in football, therefore a strict, 'do this, do that' approach may not work well, But a gentle, More educational approach may help. It's a fine balance, that most of us will never truly understand.
Bruce is a bit more intelligent than that you would have thought, even if he does seem a bit potty on the odd occasion. You'd think any manager these days would have been on some courses where they show you that 1970's manager styles are not applicable in this day and age.
