Although it has been claimed that the money obtained yesterday from the Carroll transfer will be invested in players would you prefer
    A) That the £35mil is spent repaying some of Ashley's loan debts and he sells the club
    or
    B) Ashley continues in his running of the club and the £35mil is used to build the squad

Personally, I can see neither of these happening. We will probably spend around £5mil and look to bring players in for free

We made a few bids in desperation last few hours of the transfer window, so I can see us having a decent amount to spend in the summer. £20m~? We wont get it all thats for sure.

The way I see it though, surely if we were looking to spend £20mil in the summer before we sold Carroll, Pardew should be looking to get that plus the 35mil brought in from Carroll. If we are given £20mil to spend (in theory) then the fat man has got himself £35mil, whilst still making himself look by giving Pardew some money in the summer, I just hope the money goes into the club.

Where did you hear about 20 mil already being available? You're talking a 55 mil warchest here. I think I need to sit down.

If MA did promise 20 mil pre Carrollgate he'll be ****ting himself hoping Pardew forgets that particular promise ;)

Smokescreen, hope am wrong but why is a left winger a priority, when Shola is our main striker, taylor is our only good enough cover for the PL in defence, and we have Jonas and Ben Arfa.

Haha yeah he definitely will be hoping he forgot it. He hasn't but surely to strengthen a Premier League squad (hopefully), I feel that £15-20mil is the minimum a club should be looking to spend to secure the club can establish itself as a steady Premier League side the following season. If I was Joey Barton/ Jose Enrique I would be looking for assurances that there is going to be investement in the squad before i even thought about signing a new contract.

Contracts are just when you can go for free these days, as NUFC.com put it, you might as well print them on toilet paper. I agree we needed decent investment but we'd do very well to see the 35M, let alone additional funds. Although if we do spend 35M, our net loss is 0 so maybe we could stretch a bit? I can dream, ever the optimist.

Yeah totally agree, I am just bantering the idea that the majority of money from this is going to go into the fat man's pocket. I personally feel we will be extremely lucky if we see £15mil of it this summer. I expect us to be looking at bringing in the frees (Elmander, Larsson) but to be honest with our transfer history I don't mind this but at the same time I would like us to invest in some quality
