By accident I came across some old news on the BBC website, I thought looking back on some of the news what were we thinking? Its nice to laugh at it now but jheeze we really did some shocking things? Click on the link below and then look across to other pages on the bbc website, the stories are brilliant (well sort of http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/1472003.stm
To be fair, I wasn't meaning the Bierhoff article, obviously he was class and all that but I was using it more as a link to other articles of which some were mind boggoling. For instance, transfer flops and other stuff. I just found it interesting to see the changes from then to today, sorry for mis-leading you.
Reading James Beattie's weekly blog is enjoyable and a nice look back. It's actually quite well written too, and the flavour of the time is well conveyed. I quickly felt I was back in 2003. Can't believe the stuff your link refers to is from 8 to 10 years ago.
I know its scary, but very interesting to read. Nice to look back on the past times, but I can't believe how much we spent on Delgado thought it was much less, oh well!!
I found it interesting reading an old 606 article from Nigel's appointment. The bed-wetting was hilarious, if you don't learn a lesson from that, you probably never will.
The stand out article is the signing of Killer. What a player. Strachan attributes our relegation directly to his loss. Such a pity the way his career fizzled out.
I remember when the Bierhoff links came out! I wonder what happened, who decided a deal wasn't going to be made? I seem to recall we bought Ormerod from Blackpool instead - Funny how these things work out!
