What do the club do if? City are in the Championship next season and before end of September have home games versus Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle. Bristol are in the Premiership and in the same period have home matches against Exeter, Gloucester and Barff. Open the top tier of the West Stand or not? I believe that, however improbable this scenario is, that it will highlight how flawed will be the siting of approx 1,000 City fans in the Atyeo instead of being solely for away fans. And even more flawed will be the non opening of the top tier for all these matches which could, and I repeat could, be totally sold out at 27,000. The loss of income to both City and Bris would be in the region of £500,000 each. Once there are season tickets in the Atyeo sold to home fans, how easy would it be to reconsider? Will the top tier actually be ready by the start of the football season or be an empty white elephant for several months?
The upper tier will be open when it is required. Similar to other clubs. It is not related to City fans residing in the Atyeo. The West stand is behind schedule, as work in the Atyeo fans pub wont commence till its finished (next season).
Should just move the Atyeo home fans. We can make more money from away fans, plus the atmosphere in the Atyeo is poor, probably sounds alright when you're in it but they sing about 3/4 songs and repeat. The 2nd half you hear nothing.... Should just relocate the "singers" into the south stand.
The rugby is irrelevant surely, they can open it without segregation can't they? The question is fair regarding where will the additional numbers of away fans be located and will they be split in to two areas or restricted to a certain number of tickets?
What does that have to do with the upper West stand? Atmosphere in Atyeo from the Dolman sounds ok. It is not their fault it's so poor everywhere else.
To be fair the atyeo leads by a mile regards noise, followed by the Dolman, followed by South Stand. However there is a potential to house some big away attendances next year where the whole Atyeo could be filled. Personally income is most important,so i say give it to away fans, move the noise into the Dolman or West Stand,Southampton and Brighton fans bounce of each other and it sounds excellent when i have been there. There should be some 23000 plus crowds at the gate next year,Leeds would fill the atyeo as would Newcastle,Villa,Sunderland. Bring some fantastic signings in, and start well, big away followings could see sellouts.
Because then you have 1000+ more people in the 3 stand meaning it's more likely the upper stand will open. Thought that was quite obvious.
It is not obvious because it was not part of the reasoning provided by Bristol Sport. These fans cannot be relocated into the South Stand unless they entirely alter the way they support the team. If Bristol Sport thought they could sell the seats in the upper West stand they would.
First home game after the West Stand is likely to be close to, if not a sell-out, this is fairly common for new stadia...
I was told by someone at the club that the 1000 in the Atyeo will be moved out at some point this season.
The South stand is for families etc. West stand corporate. Atyeo fans who like to sing and stand. Dolman facilities need sorting.
