True. There was a time that I was convinced that he'd be taking the England role at the end of the season but I think there's a good enough chance that he'll stay so we don't need to speculate who will be our next manager.

His reluctance to rotate the squad cost us last season and, although at times injury-enforced, it's an issue this season. We certainly need to keep Sandro, Dawson and Kranjcar sweet as they are important players to have both playing and in reserve.

He's not perfect but a step up from Graham, Hoddle, Santini, Ramos and even BMJ (although I remain a fan).

I agree, also. However, he's not faultless. Plus, of course, as unlikely as I think it is, there is an outside chance that current events will enforce his absence.

Totally agree, no one could've got us where we are so quickly...3rd, and thats not disparaging in anyway, I'm over the moon with it. However, the next step, jockeying for position between 1st and 2nd through a season is a big one, also our ability to attract a really top player is restricted, an irritant to a lot of managers. Although I said earlier I'm not convinced, you could argue he's not quite finshed yet, he would still like a couple more players and he's right. Example, Ade has played every PL game, people have cried out for rotation offering JD. Well we saw why, you can make all the excuses you like, he never turns up when you need him, yeah 5 v Wigan blah blah blah, he just doesn't score the winner against a top4 team, and I'm not basing that on the last game. So I can see his point to an extent, all games are very very hard, we need our best team out, as our back up have too many flaws or just don't fit.

And I would probably counter that while the CPS feels that a custodial sentance is what we are looking for, a low security prison, like Ford would be fine. That gaff ain't exactly devils island. And you I both know that preparing a team for the 90 minutes and all that entails, as well as dealing with the media, players, board and fans' expectations as well as gargantuan drive to and from work every day, mean that a month or so at Her Majesty's pleasure would be more like a holiday. <ok>

As for who is suitable to take Spurs to the next level, do we never learn? Stability wins titles as much as anything else. It's no coincidence that since we stopped selling 10 players and buying another 10 in every season we have performed increasingly well. We learnt our lesson on how to cope with a domestic programme and CL football too. The answer to the question is, the person suitable to take us to the next level is the same one who bought us to this one.

Luke, all that is being suggested, is does he have the nous to maintain a top 2 challenge, you don't watch our games as we do, just as I can't question the finer points of a United performance, mainly due to to not being that interested to follow that closely. So, would you please keep an open mind, no-one is questioning events to date, I'm still pinching myself, but I think the next step is very good reason for debate, and if you believe he has what it takes I'd be interested to read your view.

Really? The "but" should tell you how I feel (and username as you suggest). BMJ is still a hero to me for what he did here and I said Harry is even better than that. So I think my point was lost in translation.

Nobody on here thinks Harry is perfect, we all get wound up by the garbage he tells the press sometimes for example, and his reluctance to rest players could affect us in the run in. But all in all, I wouldn't swap him for any current PL manager. The job he has done for us has been brilliant. Is this clear enough?

We are still improving under 'Arry, for Christs sake, Rome wasn't built in a day. What Chirpy says is right, stability is tantamount to success, 10 in and 10 out is no good, it takes time for a team to gel. 'Arry has grown along with Tottenham, he is a little more adventurous tactically than when he first arrived. All the time we are progressing we should be happy. Lets face it, if it wasn't for the less than dynamic duo, Foy & Webb, we would be up there with a chance for the title.

  15. We would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for those pesky refs!
