Just back from Belgium and saw the result 3-3 and the fact we were losing 1-3 at half time. I know Shawcross and Cameron were out but were we really that bad at the back without them? Worrying times if so! I said Upson was good for a goal on another thread pre game but at what expense? Also to lose Nzonzi as well it must have been a stinker of a game. Can't wait to watch Match Of The Day now to see this Cameron Jerome wonder goal everyone is talking about!
Begovic did a Marcel Marceau impression and probably talked himself out of a tranfer, the defence went keystone kops and we were playing the Harlem globe trotters. Oh and Nzonzi was sent off due to simulation by meadowlark.
A decent game in fairness Waddo, Well, 2nd half was if your a Stokie we did jack all first half and what defence? Wilko never seen him play so badly, Huth then deflects a cross onto the bar leaving a sitter for another goal. Had he left it, it would have gone out for a Goal Kick, or Begovic would have caught it. First goal, Christ knows where Shotton was but it was a very good cross. KJ scored a great goal but 2nd half apart from one sitter of a chance for the Saints, it was all Stoke... worth watching MOTD2 if only to see Jerome's screamer Waddo. N'Zonzi didn't make contact with their player and it's a shame he seem's to feign injury. No need to watch MOTD now Waddo..
Cheers for the analysis Jowler & Potts. Just recorded MOTD2 so I will watch that in the morn. Just heard Nzonzi will be eligible to play against Man City whilst his sending off is under appeal so at least that a bit of good news. Speak tomoz guys when I've seen the highlights. G'nite!
My view is on the first goal; a) the cross should never have been allowed to get over, a vey weak attempt by Shotton to block it. I also think Kighly was tracking back at the same time. Then Wilko as his left foot is not that good turns his back on it! It reaches Lambert who is lurking at the back who comforatbly converts. Second goal; Total lack of communication between Huth & Begovic resulting in a really soft goal. Third goal: Wilko got himself facing the goal and just placed the ball in the net. Just wish he would do it at the other end. Agree that Wilko did have a nightmare and Huth TBH was at sea without Ryan to help him.It is worrying to see how poor they were at the back and hope that at the Etihad they get back to the mean ways! 0-0 draw would be good. Also thought last night about that WUM saying about us playing rugby. 2 clear handballs showed Southampton to play that game. I thought you were supposed to use feet, body excluding arms, and head, not fist the away or move your arm up to block a header! Still I think it the first time in the EPL that I have seen us come back from 2 down and a man down. Remember Newcastle and Villa away but Saturday was special and it provided another point for us and think that 29 points is our best return in the Premier League to teh end of the year. Looking forward to more positive performances in the New Year!
I thought Begovic should have shouted for the second and third goals as he could see what was happening.
Well as one Stokie said, Begovic should be more vocal and that's correct re Huth and I'm certain had Huth not attempted to clear it. Either Begovic had it or it was out for a goalkick... either way a complete shambles and it needs sorting out. Citeh away? Er I'll be keeping an eye on our goal diff fella's. That's not being negaitve, just realistic. A pt would be a miricle IMO let's see what happens.
Potts, Agreed a point would be more than should be expected, more of a damage limitation exercise and hope for the best.
Cheers for that run down Chris Seen Jeromes goal now and what a cracker it was too. Wished I'd been there for this game grrrrrrrr!
