The fact that he hasnt named his source means it is likely to be true, but 'off the record'. Why it would be 'off the record' would probably be so if he turns us down when we appointed someone else we could claim them as always being the first choice.

Okay, a cynical and obviously hypothetical view. I'm a club chairman. I want to keep fans onside and show I'm ambitious. I know a supposedly high profile manager will turn us down. I know I'm safe leaking it out that the jobs his if he wants it and can say I tried, when option number two's or beyond's in place.

Problem with that is that the "other" options will then be second or third choice rather than first. If it had been me in charge (apart from not dismissing NB in the first place) I would have appointed Billy Davies about 2 1/2 weeks ago. No speculation, no pi55ing the fans off, just simply the best cv for the job, and he would have jumped at it. Now we have asked a guy who may become our manager for a while if none of the managerless clubs in the Prem want him.
Well OLM, despite your 'Bruce was never going to be our manager' statement, it seems he has been offered the job ! Good luck mate but the club will need shed loads of money to realise his 'ambitions'. Not good enough for us but he might do a reasonable job for you. Good news is that Michael Turner could be available.
do we really want a guy that obviously is not that keen on being our manager ? it sounds like he doesnt really want the job but will take it if he doesnt get any other offers... i think we had something similar with NP, he only came to us because he couldnt believe leicester would let us speak to him.. he never felt wanted and that was his only reason for coming to us. id much rather give the job to someone else who would be passionate about being our manager.
