An interesting thread on ATD at present.....entitled...."Is it time to change the manager".

Some insight by Damon Lenszner on being a PAFC director and who is responsible for how a club is set up and run and why good managers moved on etc.

I've already said that something is wrong out there but I don't expect a change anytime soon. Fact is that Brent doesn't care a jot what happens with the football so he will do nothing. People are not blaming Sheridan but who else is there to blame at the minute. He does selection, training, tactics etc.

We can't keep changing managers hopelessly in search of the Holy Grail of football. Amongst other things, it's far too expensive.

Sheridan was only appointed in January, so he's only had, what, 5 or 6 months of actual playing time? It's a ridiculously short period on which to base a judgement.

We'll only end up with another round of 6 months of saying "ah well, he can't help it, it's not his squad" about the new guy and then "Oh, no he really is cr@p, let's get someone else".

It's not right at the moment but Sheridian needs a better chance than he's had so far. For a start, he needs to try some variations, Young, Harvey, Gurreiri or Blackman out wide, something.

It was disappointing to see Harvey come on so late.....the sought of subbing that is normally done to run the clock down.

Yes No Yes No Yes No Yes No

This thread makes me laugh and sums up perfectly the mess that Argyle are in. Total division in the fanbase which serves to prevent said fans from being taken seriously or listened to in any way.

The same thing is happening on PASOTI on every thread:

Is Brent a saint or sinner? Sinner Saint Sinner Saint Sinner Saint!
Should Sheridan go? Yes No Yes No Yes No
Are we in a relegation scrap again? Yes No Yes No Yes No
Should we change squad/formation? Yes No Yes No Yes No

If I was a member of the press or even Saint James(Brent!) himself browsing forums looking to gauge fan opinion, then I'd see a very fragmented, divided, clueless and unorganised bunch of in-fighting natives. The old saying of "together we stand, divided we fall" is corny but absolutely completely and utterly true and relevant. Whilst the fans squabble amongst themselves, the real agenda plays out undetected and unchecked in the background.

The various Argyle forums are painfully predictable in their ebbs and flows. Win and they're like a place of worship for Saint James & co. Lose and then the questions start being asked. Quick, throw in a quick win again to please the natives and the forums are back to worshipping Saint James again!

There are very few people on any of the forums who are consistent in their analysis and taking a bigger picture approach. If you look past the short-lived good blips, if you recognise that dropping 3 divisions and hovering around the bottom of the table is not good and if you acknowledge that avoiding the drop by one or two places is not equivalent to a trophy, then you'll see that the overidding trend is not pretty. I've been able to see that Argyle are rotten since 2008 and I haven't changed my tune, haven't been fooled by the odd 'good blip', nor was I afraid to say so either. It led me to be banished from PASOTI several times! and be routinely keel-hauled by angry green-tints here there and everywhere.

It's taken about 5 years for the knee-jerk gang to finally wake up and realise that Argyle is rotten to the core and on a continual downward descent.

Agree but only up to a point surfer. The fan base isn't that split these days. Even on pasoti where only worship is generally allowed there has been a fair bit of dissent against Brent and his wayward plans. In the beginning as the bible of sainthood goes, there was a sense of euphoria about Brent coming in and the feeling that all would be well. This was due to the right words being spoken at the right time. However, since the promises have begun to get watered down and some of them not even happening at all, this euphoria has evaporated as the true picture has begun to emerge. Since the new and wonderful grandstand making millions for the football club has become a mini stand with nothing much coming the way of football and the truth has dawned then Brent hasn't been held in much esteem at all.

Nobody including you could have seen the true Brent from the beginning. You might have guessed he would be useless due to past experience of Argyle owners but no better than that. People understandably wanted him to be good and gave him the benefit for a while but it is untrue to say he is revered by all but a few now.

I was unimpressed when Sheridan was brought in and have seen nothing to change my mind, there were better options available at the time but Sheridan got the nod. Whether that was he was considered the best option or the cheapest at the time we who knows or perhaps the other applicants did not want the job when they saw budget & future plans? Still we have what we have and too soon to ditch it, see where we are at Xmas as Lyndhurst said. Sheridan really does not seem to be one for change and seems to stick with certain players and team set up convinced it will come good... lets hope hes right.
