http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...ay-be-forced-to-wear-non-pompey-kit-1-4026102 What an absolute joke, how much would it cost to have the women play in one of last season's away kits? Even the iffy red and black one would be better. That's appalling that a Pompey team may not even wear a bloody Portsmouth kit, especially one as successful as the women's team. Talk about showing complete disrespect. Coincidentally, I have the shirt that they currently play away in.
It's quite strange that women's sports in this country (well probably everywhere) is practically ignored and is definitely the poor relation of football. I watch a lot of (as well as partake of) skiing and the women's teams are as supported, sponsored and televised as the men's skiing. Most of the winter sports are the same. I'd pay a lot of money to see Pompey ladies take on Pompey first team - and kick butt! But you are right Lapras - it is a disgrace.
If the worst were to ever happen and we were liquidated, I would hope that the ladies team could play at Fratton and I would start supporting them
This beggars belief really. I mean, even Kids teams locally sometimes have local businesses sponsoring them and paying for their kit. The amounts of money involved must be paltry. Even if there is a problem today, how come they are wearing such old kit? Incomprehensible.
I couldn't open the link but I get the general gist of it. A disgrace. As you say, why not give them the old away kit from last year? Any-thing's better than nothing!
By the look of that photo of Laurent Robert, they could all share the one shirt, so voluminous it appears to be......
And Tennis and possibly swimming/running but yeah I get your point, it is odd. Jake, my man! You should support them anyway in addition to the men's team as I do (or in place of if you get really disillusioned). I totally agree they should play at Fratton Park. Still, Moneyfields isn't that far from Fratton Park, so could always go there! I went to their last home game of the season last season and it was enjoyable, it some good football and I got to shake hands with the goalie. And it wasn't one of those pitch invasion, pat them on the back but they don't have an idea of who you are as they're being swarmed by people type events, this was one-to-one after the game! She was taaaaall.
I think it would be good if we had the ladies, youth and reserve teams play at Fratton. Bit of extra revenue and it would instill confidence in the players.
