I know that this lad is wanted by both manchester clubs but I think he would do a great job for us. If we made a cheeky bid for him that would be great. He would happily slot into our midfield. I know that it probably wont happen but if we did, our midfield would be near to completion.... thoughts?

Wages are too high, he would need to be paid in excess of £200,000 a week for the deal to happen. Even City have been put off by that. With FFP looming clubs aren't going to pay that. We are trying to reduce the wage bill not increase it <ok>

Plus Lamps and JT have clauses in their contracts that mean that they would also be getting £200k a week too. If we could get him on a lower wage (he's obviously not on that money at Inter) I would be over the moon as he is just the sort of player we need and it would piss Fergie off no end.

100% agree with what's been said before. His fee (if around £30 mill as reported) is actually reasonable when compared to say Modric and Fabregas but the wages are ridiculous and exactly why English clubs struggle to attract these type's of players (with the high tax rates in this country for high earners).

Would be a real assest but unless his demands are lowered it ain't gonna happen. I hope and trust the club are looking at other options. Why or why we aren't in for Nasri I don't know. £25 mill and would secure him IMO and he is just as good as Modric if not better (certainly in the final 3rd).

Plus, isn't your squad quota of foreign players full?

Or did Zhirkov leaving free up a spot? That move was under the radar.

Like you we can't afford the lads wages either (reported to be £260,000 pw) especially when some of the senior players have clauses to match any new wage.
