For engineering yet another kick in the gonads for your troops.

You are a priceless addition to the Roker faithful. Long may you continue in your work.:smiley-finger007:

Get your facts right. It was made very clear that the £500,000 was not for the players or coaching staff but for the general employees of NUFC. (cleaners, secretaries, tea lady etc).

I have been one of Ashley's critics but I have to admit that this was a decent gesture by the man.

I think he should give them it anyway to be honest. Motivational exercises like this can actually become very de-motivational if they don't go as planned. I'd actually expect a lot of the background staff to be very pissed off at some of the players now for costing them BIG bonuses.

Is that true? Explains the capitulation then and shows how footballers care about the little people!
    Good gesture never the less.

That is what pissed me off more than anything else on Sunday. That money would have been great for those employees.

Yes, but at least they've got jobs. Think of the poor buggers at West Ham, Blackpool and Birmingham who are likely to get redundancies. Back-room people always suffer more than anyone as the result of relegation.

To be fair to Ashley, I don't think he would be that chuffed to pocket that money. The fact they lost that 3 goal league cost him over 2 million in final standing's prize money.
