A cheerful development for the club regarding Big Kev is that he has been dropped from the first team squad and is doing a fitness programme on his own. This will be evidence in any court case that the club was correct and couldnt be asked to pay £20m for a defective part
I totally get why fans love Alioski, I’d fully understand him getting a new contract but I don’t understand why so many continually see him as a decent LB. I watched a different game last week because against Everton I was virtually alone in thinking he was poor, against Chelsea he was abysmal. I don’t agree with the abuse he got on Twitter last night but one tweet summed it up when a Leeds fan posted “Watching Alioski run after Timo reminds me of my Granny running for a bus”. I don’t get why Bielsa prefers Dallas in the middle and we need a classy LB with some pace in January. Alioski losing the ball, missing tackles and getting constantly beaten for pace leaves whoever is in front of him lost. Harrison and Raphinha both looked poor on the left, was that partly to having Alioski behind them? Poveda had zero impact, our wingers were all poor. Maybe Chelsea were just on form and up for it.
I see Danny Murphy among plenty of pundits is criticising Poveda for not going down and winning a penalty because we could have taken a deserved point at that stage?
Do you think it would have been a deserved point? I felt 3-1 flattered us to be honest. The errors by Meslier, Cooper and Llorente giving the ball straight to one of their players... if it was roles reversed we’d be crucifying our players for missing those chances. Timo doing a Bamford and clearing it off the line via the crossbar and then 3-4 worldly saves by Meslier, they could have had 5 or 6
If VAR is used on penalty decisions why wasnt it used last night for Poveda, do players have to throw themselves down to get VaR to check. A foul is a foul whatever surely?
I think we won the first half and were still in front of possession stats even at the end. The time we should have had a penalty and if scored would have had a different impact on Chelsea as they would have worried we could score again, so mentally it would have evened things up. As it worked out we were the ones having to attack and leave gaps at the back and we got punished
I don't rate poveda.. Harrison or Alioski. Poor fullback is Alioski too slow and weak. Weeks ago i said Harrison was not that good he provides virtually nothing. He scired a goal against Liverpool? when their defenders backed off him and suddenly he became world class. I still think we are sift down the middle and will struggle the rest of the season for points. Everton were just ordinary against us and we got one goal
I hoped to avoid relegation and after that I was hoping mid table, that’s always been my hope and still is. Llorente needs to settle in, as does Koch and I believe they will. The stand out thing for me in the Premier league is how poor our CBs are compared to everyone else. The opposition look like scoring from every set piece and we look disjointed when trying to defend in our own area. I think we need to get through this season, get it under our belts, then next season we can add a couple more players to fill the weaker positions and I also believe Llorente and Koch will look far better next season.
The obvious lack of a LWB hurts us simply by looking at what Ayling does on the right. You can clearly see Ayling being further forward than Raphinah or Costa many times in every game with Ayling squaring whilst in the box, crossing from the right or indeed having a dig himself. On the left its normally Harrison and he has had a two bad games and its left Alioski exposed more often than not. We have Leif Davies who is a decent LB who is trying to be a LWB but gone backwards I feel, but we do have Niall Huggins and he has turned in some exceptional performances at LWB, scoring creating and scaring defenders to death. Do you persist in developing him or do you just put Dallas back there for now and keep Alioski on the bench
I was lucky maybe last night then. I had been up since four and after work had a couple of drinks and fell asleep. I do think our centre backs have not worked together but the space we give the other teams is laughable. We have one tactic and everyone knows it.
Former Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards described the Millwall incident as "disheartening". "How do these fans get allocated to the games?" he said on BBC Final Score. This guy has made millions from these fans he denigrates. He should be banned from commentating.
We all know that Alioski is out of his depth at this level. Just because he had a poor game yesterday doesn't support your opinion of last weeks performance. The last three games in isolation he has had two good games and one bad one. Unfortunately that about sums his career up. He just can't consistently do it. He is capable of magical moments but also of horrendous performances. He is good off the bench.
Opinions are just that, I’m on my own on this forum regarding last weeks performance but I’m not alone when you search for Everton Leeds match reports, many shared my opinion on his performance. Yesterday you said Bamford did nothing other than the goal (which was very well taken) and scored him 6 you scored both Rodrigo and Poveda 6 and they did less than Bamford. Bamford never stopped pressing from the front but you didn’t see it that way. I thought Poveda offered nothing yesterday when he came on. All opinions though
Poveda actually got into the box and if he had gone down we would have equalised. Thats a fair contribution in the little time he had mate. No he played fair and stayed on his feet and got a shot off which could have gone in and that would also have been a decent contribution. He attacked on both flanks and caused them problems but was also easily bullied off the ball a couple of times.he is an asset in attack and is lacking stature in defence
No doubt mate but my point is does Bamford deserve a 6/10 the same as Poveda? I felt Bamford pressed as he always does, he scored a well taken goal, did he not have a better game than Poveda and Rodrigo? He also played the entire 90 minutes
Sorry to burst the hope bubble, but isn't that why players have medicals before signing? And btw, who had been watching him just before signing him? Did he appear to be as fit as a fiddle?
