I thought we looked very comfortable against WBA with only the odd scare which you're bound to get at this level.
Then stop coming up with feeble excuses when we win. If we had won 4-0 on Sunday West Brom couldn't have complained.
the same as if they won 4-0 we could not complain. they had their chances to but their finishing was not there, we of all teams should know that..
A miss is as good as a mile! If they cant get a shot on target in 90 minutes then to say "it could have easily gone the other way if WBA finishing was better" is a bit much Dai! We were well deserved winners
I must have missed something, West Brom only have two real chances as I mentioned earlier. In fact, when walking back to my car, a couple of West Brom fan's were saying, that we battered them and would not have complained if we had come away with a 4-0 win. Vorm didn't even have his hands warmed with a shot, so it wasn't poor finishing they didn't create any chances.
At the end of the day we won, we got our first points on the board and are out of the bottom 3, job well done in my eyes so why are you putting a damper on things Dai, is it not good enough that we won? Did you expect us to beat them by more? Or did we even deserve to win? What is your major malfunction? A win is a win be it 1-0 or 10-0 be fcuking happy about it and stop trying to dampen other people's spirits, are you really a Jack? I really have my doubt as you are never happy!!
I don' care how lucky we were that they cocked up a header, and Anelka didn't hit the target, last I checked we had a keeper between the sticks that COULD have saved either instance. And even them. if we were lucky they didn't score, then they were damn lucky not to have conceded more, so if luck didn't play its part, we would most likely have still won, so who gives ****. I mean if their 1 shot on target could have been a goal, (im assuming that was the header, which wasn't even on target) then our 4 on target could have been too. If 1 of their 9 shots off target could have gone in (only Anelka's effort really), then what about Hernandez hitting the bar? or doesn't that count? If both teams had better finishing it could have ended up 5-2 and we would still have won. I mean other than our 2 goals, the best 2 efforst after those were Routledge, so what are people pissing in the wind for?
I sort of agree with NJ. Not wishing to put a downer on a good win but they had a couple of chances that they really should have buried. Other teams would have, but I also think we would have won this one, and deservedly so. We despatched an extablished Prem team and looked good. A dramatic improvement imo. Shocked at the 90% passing record - Shelvey must have accounted for the other 10% on his own. This win was important because not getting wins can become a habit no team wants. Hopefully we can kick on. I really don't want this break.
Im happy we won but fans are making out that we were Brilliant. We were far from brilliant and if WBA had better finishing it could quite easily have been a different story, How many times have we heard on here that we should have won that if we had good finishers, I saw the same at WBA that if they had better finishing then who knows. we were hanging on in the end before the second goal but they were as good as us going forward all game long....so lets see how we do in the next few games before judging if we are over our disappointing past results, I'm yet to be convinced. but i'm grateful for the 3 points however we got them...
You tell us to wait a few more games to see how results fare, so why couldn't you wait to see how results would fare after the united and Spurs games? Why were you so quick to slate ML and cane our players? We were better than WBA, every stat will tell you that. People are not anywhere near as negative as you so stop trying to make them be. If you're not happy with a win, then go and sulk somewhere else about how it could have been different. No one here wants to hear it.
That's the problem, no one wants to hear anything negative, swans-m. Like you, I'm hopeful this result means we've turned a corner because like Dai I'm not convinced we're as sharp as earlier last season. Our results tail end of last season tell you that. Having said that, up to Sunday we'd only played two top teams so it won't tell us much. Dai has a valid opinion shared by others, though not many on this forum. Some people are naturally more pessimistic and critical but that's just the way of things.
we were terrible against man utd after a good start and they had a bit of luck with 2 goals in a couple of minutes and until then we matched them. the bad sign for me is that we went to pieces and lost our shape and you cant do that. the spurs game was down to laudrup with team selection and tactics, spurs were poor without bale and were there for the taking and because of poor management we blew our chance so the game against WBA who also had a bad start who matched us apart from their finishing told us nothing, thats why the jury is out at the moment as i'm not convinced we are up to speed yet.
West Brom never matched us in any area of the game against them, they were devoid of all ideas, even thier fans said they were clueless.
Negative comments are fine when warranted. But when it is done excessively as in Dai's case, it becomes very tedious very fast. When was the last positive comment made by Dai about Swansea City? Ive heard him big up Liverpool, Rodgers and Allen many a time. But curiously never when they were connected to Swansea. People are negative, I get that. But no one wants to read constant dross all the time. We lose to a team its the end of the world. We beat a team, we should have scored more goals or we were lucky or lets wait for a few more games. Its laughable. Granted we haven't been at our best towards the end of last season, but thats exactly what it was - last season. We matched Manu but didnt get the result that was warranted, we were beaten by a penalty away to Spurs, we have qualified for the group stages in Europe and have just beaten a well established prem team on their own patch. Yet he still has something to complain about. It genuinely does beggar belief. Please dont tell me to put him on ignore if i dont want to read it because as everyone here will know, that just doesn't work. People quote him or respond to him and that in turn sends the thread to ****. Im fed up with it and im sure a good few on here are too.
Then why do regular users 'reply with quote' when we agreed ages ago that nobody should? I suspect many can't help themselves. I find it's not hard to ignore people and even if you see a 'reply with quote' why respond? I agree Dai is super-negative and hyper-critical and I disagree with most of his comments and his general take on things. He irritates the hell out of me at times but if it got to a level where I couldn't rationally debate him I'd put him on ignore.
