I was watching the Paddy Crerand show on Mutv earlier and some of the nonsense our fans were coming out with were unbelievable, i get accused of being thick on here but they took it to a new level, dropping our star man with 4 games to go ? are they for real ? would our manager drop Wayne Rooney with 4 games of the season left in an important time in our season ? don't make me laugh, he wouldn't do that unless for discilpine reasons and they were calling him avearge ? would this be the same ''average'' Wayne Rooney that has scored 31 goals in 39 games for us this season and was nominated in the player of the year awards yesterday. Some of our fans need a reality check.

yeh but Matthew H Daffy, we are in decline....

This clearly means average now means brilliant, just like decline means sustained period of dominance.

    Buy a new dictionary :D

I sort of understand what they're saying, not saying they're right. Rooney's overall play has been subpar relative to his usual form. Rooney himself has admitted much, but to actually want him dropped for the remaining games of the season is insane.

form in temperament class is permanent, even when Rooney is not on his best he still scored, he looks tired but Rooney average? dropping rooney? that is nonsense, we're 1st cos of Rooney's goals... i don't think who ever said that watches United that often.. Rooney is Man Utd's key player

Rooney for Man u in my opinion is the best player in the league and that's a unbiased point of view as i don't support any premier league club. His all-round game is quality, i don't think he is the best overall in a certain position ( e.g. i'd rather have RVP / Aguero if all i wanted was a goal poacher ) but as a all-round player he is definitely the best.

Also deserves a lot of credit for the way he has sorted out his conduct, obviously he has the odd blip still but he use to be a very arrogant unlikeable person who was also very aggresive.

Only negative thing i could say for Rooney is he is average a lot of the time on international level and i wish he could replicate his man u form on international level so we might actually have a chance of winning the euros/world cup one day. But even in saying that a lot of players that are quality for their CLUBS are not the same for ENGLAND.

    Thanks for your input <ok>

I'm not English, but from my POV, the people that perform for England aren't the big stars that seem to do it give themselves a bigger profile, but the guys who take pride in pulling on an England jersey which tend to be the lower profile players. If England could their best 11 to play with some heart, you would have a good chance at making it pretty far in tournaments.

Most of our players are average aren't they? Rooney, Carrick, Evans, fletcher, de gea, all average. Even united fans say this so it must be so. Good job we have world class on our side in the form of all the referees or we'd be knackered.

Ah, but you forget that this is the worst PL in a million, billion years and we are only winning cos everyone else is so rubbish. Aguero, Silva, RVP, Ba, Mata, Modric, Suarez, all that lot are so much worse than average it's embarrassing...

Gotta wonder at the mentality of rival fans who would rather claim their own team is **** that give our team any praise at all.

Most of them don't think their team is **** but they do think ours is. We are only in the top 4 because of refereeing decisions. Some will give a modicum of credit to Fergie for being a half decent manager.

Liverpool fans have spent the last twenty years believing that man for man their squad is better than Manchester United's. Fortunately a lot of their managers have been similarly deluded.

A typical Scouser analysis of the two first teams goes something like this.

In goal I'd take Reina over De Gea who is ****. At right back Johnson is far better than Rafael who is ****. The centre halves pick themselves, Skrtel and Agger are brilliant whereas Vidic and Ferdinand are too old, Evans is **** and Smalling is still a work in progress. Don't even get me started on Jones who is just ****, glad we didn't get him. Enrique would definitely get in ahead of Evra who is a lying ****. Right wing Jordan Henderson ahead of Valencia. He has so much potential and Valencia is one footed. In the middle it has to be Gerrard over Scholes as he's younger and offers more of a goal threat and look how much we've missed Lucas since he's been injured, he'd always get in ahead of Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson who are all ****. This may be controversial but I'd go for Downing on the left. He's quicker and a better crosser than Young who is a diving **** and Nani is far too inconsistent. Up front it would be Rooney ahead of Carroll and Suarez is miles ahead of Hernandez and Welbeck who are both ****.

So my combined Liverpool/United XI is

    Reina
    Johnson
    Skrtel
    Agger
    Enrique
    Henderson
    Gerrard
    Lucas
    Downing
    Rooney
    Suarez

Very, very true. It never ceases to amaze how a team packed with world class players, who are generally the best in the league in their individual position, and a world class manager can be so unspeakably ****.

I think average is very unfair to wazza, but he is WAY overhyped
I do think his form (despite the goals) has deteriorated. Now it may just be tiredness etc or an injury or it could be a decline ala gazza

He hasnt lived up to expectation and there are better players than him in the league at the moment

For him to be nominated in PFA etc over some others is a travesty, as was when he won over Drogba

in the 09/10 season that was his best season for us, in terms of goalscoring, i can see him passing that record as well. I agree with you about being overhyped, most english players are, to be fair the press and media are overhyping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Ah, but you forget that they have 'deserved' to win 99% of their games this season. If only they could finish all those thousands of chances they keep creating. Or could stop leaking poor goals like a paper bag with a hole in it...

    Rooney overhyped?

    Compared to what? Carroll.

    SHUT THE **** UP.

Rooney is the only player in world football who plays every position on the field at the same time and still scores 10 in 10. ! second hes defending and the next hes celebrating a goal. Now sorry if hes not been running everything in midfield recently and pinging 80 yard passes about for fun but another midfield superstar decided he fancied a kick about so United allowed him to do so. That man was scholes, he is now pinging the 80yard balls around and Rooney has moved back up top where he can put his shooting boots to work.

Rooney gets slagged off by rival fans all the time, the only people who overhype him are the press and **** them.
