I doubt anyone was faster than fereday, it was said he was clocked at 10.0 secs for 100m when the world record was 9.87.
You've gotta be an old geezer like me to come up with this one. After reading the above comments OK my nomination would not be the fastest R's player of all time, but quite probably the fastest fullback they ever had. His name was John Poppitt and he played at right-back (Tony Ingham was left-back) in the early 1950s. Johnny was not a good defender, made lots of mistakes which were usually covered by Ingham and the likes of George Smith, but lightning fast he was. It was so comical to see a fancy visiting winger get the ball, tap it past Poppitt, only to see our John totally outsprinting him. Trouble was Poppitt liked a foot race better than the football! Man, he could go though! http://www.qprprints.co.uk/football...ens_park_rangers_photocall/print/1982441.html http://www.qprprints.co.uk/r1/leagu...practice_match_loftus_road/print/4555663.html P.S. I used to love these teams when I was a kid. Ernie Shepherd, Conway Smith, Harry Brown, Bert Addinall, Cyril Hatton, Tony Ingham, Arthur Jefferson, Reg Allen, et al..................Great days and great memories!
And those are definitely the best shirts ever, none of this man made fabric, advertising hoarding stuff, 100% thick cotton with turned up collars. Even I would shell out for a replica of one of those.
I went to the QPR game at Hampton and Richmond and there was a young guy on the wing in the first half and full back in the second called Ali (I Think). He is the fastest in hoops that I have seen in recent times, absolutely electric.
Still think DT was as quick as anyone i've seen play in the hoops and he always had control of the ball even when beltingg along the touchline.
That's interesting Woody. Reg Allen was one of the finest goalkeepers I ever saw in my life, and like many on here I've seen a few good'uns. R's were playing Spurs once at LR and Reg pulled off the most miraculous save from Eddie Bailey; it ranked with that save of Gordon Banks from Pele against Brazil in the '70s (I believe).
Great to hear he was a good'n. I'm going to verify my claim. Interestingly, I was a keeper too and a pretty good one, just my mr average height let me down. Cheers jongleur.
