https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...ews/duncan-watmore-hoping-pre-season-16541107 Next season is massive for him. It will make or break what direction his career is going to go. Having a proper pre season could give him a kickstart and bring out the Duncan of old that won player of the tournament in 2016 for England U21 in Toulon, or he'll gradually become a forgotten man and drift into the lower leagues.
I actually shed a tear at Wycombe when he was attacked by some talentless sack of shyte. He's only 25 and more than capable of shining in this league ... ... Haway Dunc, full season and a hatful of goals!!!
When he makes his comeback if anyone launches into a crunching tackle I'm going to run on the pitch and shiv them, I don't give a ****. He's had horrendous luck and it's a good thing he's got a strong mentality, if it was me I'd probably have been a drunk after it happened the second time.
Wycombe was the closest I've come to going onto the pitch since the 80's. I'd have taken a season's ban tbh.
ive said on another thread that this is make or break for Duncan. Hes got to have an injury free pre season and hit the ground running on the 3rd August, assuming JR picks him to start of course.
Nothing would please me more than seeing this outstanding, role model professional, back to his best and having a full season of football, it can be done as Catts showed last season, and nobody deserves it more than Duncan Watmore.
One of his strengths was his fearlessness going forward. Just hope he doesn't lose that for fear of getting injured. He's way over L1 standard and a healthy Dunc would be a season-changer for us.
I hope Watmore comes through but it doesn't feel to me like his chance is going to come. He's not a young prospect any more, he's 25 and barely played for the best developmental years of his career. I thought he'd relish the Championship and then backed him to rip up league one last season. Injuries take their toll and I just don't feel that it's likely to happen any more. As for drifting into the lower leagues... The main hope is that the guy's got a brain in his head so fingers crossed that he's been learning plenty whilst out.
He was awesome!! Absolute mental case of a player but could pass and tackle! And he was a man mountain too!!
Used to live in my building, handsome ****. Smelled amazing. His bird was pure Eastern European trailer trash mind haha.
