WATFORD v LUTON TOWN Vicarage Road Stadium Sunday 23rd October 2022 Kick Off: 1200 BST please log in to view this image Luton Town make the short trip to play Watford looking to extend their unbeaten record in the Championship to eight matches. At a time when the Hatters occupy fifth position in the table, Watford have recently slipped down to 15th spot, a consequence of suffering three defeats in four games. please log in to view this image When Watford thrashed Stoke City in Slaven Bilic's opening game in charge, there was every expectation that the Hornets would kick on and become mainstays in the promotion hunt. However, they have instead followed the four-goal demolition of the Potters by losing three of their next four games, the latest defeating coming by a 3-0 scoreline at Millwall. Bilic has now suffered more defeats in five matches than Rob Edwards posted in double the amount of games, and the backlash will continue if Watford fail to collect maximum points at the weekend. Although the 2-1 triumph over Norwich City was a significant plus point, Watford have now conceded nine times in four games, while they sit four points adrift of the playoffs. While two or three wins in succession will change the mood at Vicarage Road, Bilic cannot afford to enter the month-long break for the World Cup having not improved the team's fortunes. please log in to view this image Having suffered a hangover from their near-miss with promotion last season, Luton fans may have been prepared to accept that a consolidation campaign was the best that they could hope for during 2022-23. However, Luton have been terrific over the past 11 matches, collecting 22 points and suffering just one defeat, that loss coming at home to Wigan Athletic who scored twice in the final 10 minutes. Nathan Jones can point to that setback being a minor blip with Luton unbeaten in seven games since that defeat, while the Hatters are also on a two-match winning streak against two of the favourites for promotion. After inflicting a surprise win over high-flying Queens Park Rangers, Luton made the long trip to Norwich in midweek and claimed a 1-0 victory at Carrow Road. Team News Craig Cathcart might be available again, but the big loss of Imran Louza will leave Slaven with a problem as he has no obvious replacement available. I am heading out to the Jalisco hills for a big party Sat night. I am not going to be able to follow this one (un)fortunately! 6am on a Sunday, that's not happening without a mad one Sat night as it is!
We are only 4 points above relegation place but Coventry have 2 games in hand, so if they get only one point from these we will be only 3 points away, and 10 points away from automatic promotion place. Oh, and I forgot, £242 million in debt! and recently taking out a £4mill loan.
Good morning all... I will be only following with updates..... have to play exploring games in the woods with grandson whilst son and mme yorkie lay crazy paving... ...and tbh , I could do without the angst of this game at this time... BUT COYH!!
I am off to Sandringham to collect some acorns to plant and grow into (hopefully) large oaks in time, long after I am gone. We forgot to collect some when we went there to pay our respects a few weeks ago, and hopefully when our acorns have become trees, they will be a memory for my family and many others. So will only be able to keep up with the game by radio.
Morning all. Lovely warm sunny morning in rural France. I will watch the game having bought my pass, but cannot say I am looking forward to it greatly. I just hope that at the end I don't feel that my time would have been better spent weeding. Have a good day everyone.
Good afternoon in 3 minutes. Am on Hive. Another afternoon of angst, why do we do it. enjoy the game all COYH
