Watford have completed the signing of former Scunthorpe defender David Mirfin. The 26-year-old centre-back was available of a free transfer after being released by the Iron. He has has now signed a two-year contract at Vicarage Road. Sheffield-born Mirfin had made 95 league starts for the Glanford Park outfit after they signed him for £150,000 from Huddersfield in 2008. He had played 144 times for the Terriers. Watford boss Sean Dyche told the club website he was pleased with his 'manly' acquisition. He said: "He's got experience and he's what I call a man. "David is aware we've got defenders who have done a great job for us and it isn't a problem for him - he said he wants to come and prove that he can do it." Dyche added that he expected more signings to follow shortly.
