vs The first game of 2013 see's us make the sure trip up to Vicarage Road to take on a Watford side who currently sit just inside the playoff places. On the weekend whilst we was drawing at home with Derby County, Watford were away to Brighton and beating them 3-1. Deeney scored one and Vydra bagged a brace for the Hornets in this impressive away display. When we played Watford earlier in the season we went down 2-1 at the Valley and against 10 men. Tommie Hoban opened the scoring for the Hornets. Ricardo Fuller then equalised for us in the 35 minute and then Fernando Forestieri was sent of just before half time for a second booking for a blatant dive. Charlton Athletic ⢠Charlton travel in search of a first victory in seven league games, and a 200th away from home in second level league football. ⢠Chris Powell's side have not scored in their last three on the road, and are in danger of three successive away league defeats. Their last maximum away from the Valley was at Burnley on 17 November. ⢠Chris Solly is on the cusp of a 100th Charlton appearance. I am finding it hard to think we can manage a win in this fixture. We have been in poor form recently and Watford are a good side add to the fact we haven't taken 3 points off them since 1996 and you can see this will be a very tough game for our boys. However that being said they always manage to surprise me and get a result in a tough away fixture. A big congratulations to Solly if he wins his 100 appearance for us tomorrow and a safe journey to all addicks traveling up to the game tomorrow COYR!!
Records are made to be broken, however I don't see that happening today. But I think we can easily get points out of this although it will be 1, possibly 3 at a fluke
I always treat that sort of statistic with contempt and so should CP and the lads. It is like the island where I am today. Most people here believe in Voudou (if Haitian) or a watered-down mongrelised version called Santeria (if Dominican). Does it have any power? Sure it does, but only if you believe in it. One good way to drop points is to go into the match believing that such and such is your bogey team, or we never win on Sky, or if we wear this or that coloured shirts, etc. But this does look an uphill struggle the way Watford are playing and the way we are playing. Our best hope for a win is if three Watford players are sent off for diving. One is evidently not enough, though we might snatch a point if only two are sent off. Of course in the midst of three poor results and performances at home, losing to Watford's ten men, losing to Barnsley (currently bottom of the table), and getting totally stuffed 1-4 by Middlesborough, we managed a great win at Blackpool, and deserved draws at Leeds and Wolves (and all three were all doing well at the time). But anyone who looks at past history like that for a clue to the future is relying on Valley Voudou. One common factor in the aforementioned excellent away performances was the resolute defending of Morrison. If he is not playing (as you suggest) or not at his best, it will undermine any chance we have, much as I esteem Cort and Dervite.
Morrison got a red card last match, eddie, so will not be playing tomorrow. He's also picking up a lot of yellows this season, and must be close to the next automatic suspension.
Indeed, sorry. I shouldn't try to post at the same time as seeing the New Year in, or more accurately, seeing the Old Year out, which is the bigger deal over here. Comes to the same thing though. He will be missed. If you serve a suspension for a red comprised of two yellows, as in this case, do the two yellows still count towards your five for another one-match suspension? That doesn't seem fair, if so.
Good on yer, Belv! Getting in early to avoid any potential hangover problems... A determined and resolute performance may get us a draw tomorrow, but on our current form, I just can't see it - think they're going to have too much firepower for us. Don't think there'll be much in it goal-wise though, narrow loss at 2-1, much as it pains me to say so.
Belv. Worried about this one .... seems that the Hornets are getting into form for a run at the autos at the end of the season....... 3-0 Watford
Can't see anything other than a good hiding today unless we play for 90 mins like we played for the middle 40 on Saturday, Hamer has another blinder, CP doesn't tinker other than where he has to with suspensions and injury, Watford have an off day and we get loads of luck. Yeah, sounds like a Tall order. I can see 3 or 4 nil. Hope I'm wrong.
Was dancing thinking we'd scored then looked at the time... like ohhh prediction, didn't even drink that much last night either
Come on you Reds!! Think this will be a really tough game for us!! Hopefully we can show the heart we showed going down to 10men last game! Reckon a 1-1 draw! Fuller with ours
BWP on the bench according to BBC, but to be honest they probably aren't even there so I'll trust it if someone there ssays it
