Or not, didn't think Taylor would be trusted.

Changes miles too late. Green is worse than average and somehow Noublay is still on the pitch. Get the feeling Mick was never up for this one.

Should have been two attacking changes when we went two behind, not like GD matters to us now.

I didn't see the first half weighty, second he has been absolutely diabolical. <ok>

Nouble had a shocker. Mick made the changes too late. Other issues too.

End of day, we have no right to be in the mix with this lot with three to play. Lets beat Bournemouth Monday and go from there.

Let's just do it on Monday now.
Have to say I was not impressed by Nouble and feel it was a waste starting him over Hunt on the left.

There's a massive leap in quality from Wigan up. Whoever ends up in sixth is going to go out at the first hurdle to the formidable Derby County anyway so it doesn't matter that much, we've had a good season but we need to strengthen for next.

We make too many defensive mistakes, which we often get away with against the poor forwards in this league. We need to score more goals too.

I have to agree with you Hampy I just don't think we are properly equipped for the play offs or premier league for that matter! Mick has done an excellent job by getting the very best out of a limited bunch of players but we desperately need investment and I just don't see Evans providing much in The Summer!

An excellent season the best in 10 years but we have reached our ceiling with this group! <ok>

Cutting away the frustration of yet another missed opportunity and a return to PJ style result (Be dominant but fall apart and lose the game), I think we've learnt a few things:

    Negatives:
    - Still struggle to really take our chances from open play when they come.
    - We're very susceptible to counter attacks when pushing the game.
    - A seeming lack of big game mentality - On national radio, and featured game on FLS, with a chance to go sixth, attracting a huge following - how predictable was a loss?

    Positives:
    - We were only a centimetre away from taking the lead - we do have the ability to play attacking football.
    - Wordsworth has got a goal, should do his confidence a world of good (despite the liklihood of him being rested for B'mth)
    -

    Other lesson.
We need a real trusted and energetic danger man from the bench and change the game - in contrast to what i said earlier in the season i think this should be Nouble for now.
Bringing on Paul Green as a substitute to shore up the midfield isnt very effective.
We may aswell not bother playing Watford.
Above all we're still one game away from 6th with a relatively 'easy' final game.

I have considered writing a whole thread about reasons to be optimistic should we manage sixth. It starts with the fact that over two 'legs' this season, we beat Derby 6-5.

Assume your listing that as my missing positive? If so I agree.
If it was a response to my two posts earlier, i knew Marriott was on the bench, which is why I said it was ripe for him to be a hero.

Even with ten strikers on the books, Blackpool are in the bottom three.

Says it all Hampy, I am afraid. It desparately needed 2 extra attacking players to come on, and we go even more defensive ffs!

Always doubted the talents of Nouble...apart from occasional flight of fancy down the left, but he's def not up to this level.

Monday we need far more flair and really go for it with at least 2 forwards, perhaps 3...and attacking midfield.

At end of the day, we all knew that as a team we have done amazingly well this season, but not quite the finished article for Play-Offs.

Been entertaining tho, and we will still go to the wire, but miss out I fear by 1 pt...or our weakening GD!

<laugh> amazing what one loss will do.....Hampy is throwing the towel in AGAIN (you must be running out mate, I hear Matalan have an offer on). Westy we have every right to be in the mix, as I've said before we've got the points so we deserve to be in the mix.......Warky we have only just got this group together so I don't think we have hit a ceiling admittedly I'm sure we could do with a few additions but certainly no wholesale changes that have been needed for the last few seasons and if we do get promoted we will need to bring in a few more players like every other team that gets promoted.......

Stay calm it's just one game..........<cheers>

Nothing has really changed from friday morning, yes we have wasted a chance but hey ho, we go again monday and put bournemouth out of the picture.

As for the not good enough for the playoofs, as mike said we beat derby over 2games this season so why not.

Keep believing and what will be will be.
