Half a season in and I am strugglingv to see why this blithering, blundering scatter brain warrants a regular place. I reckon any of Benayoun/Arshavin/Chamakh would give a bigger return in terms of goals than this baffoon if they'd had a similar run of games. How many times has he been put through and has messed it up? No wonder the others are visibly lacking in verve knowing that they are being kept out by an inept clown.

Most of Arsenals dropped points this season have been down to poor finishing by everyone other than RVP. Gervinho is not alone, but given that his job is to score goals I hold him responsible. This game, and the 1-1 at Emitares recently should hgave been wrapped up at half time, but thanks to wastfeful finishing we have 5 dropped points.

Can someone please ask Wenger what he sees in Mr Gervinho.

Maybe I am being unfair, and maybe his general contribution and approach play is being overshadowed by his wastefulness. And again I re-iterate he is not alone - Ramsey and Walcott have been poor in this respect all season as well.

Said before that it will cost us in the future and it did. We got away with it because of Van Persie in other games but when its tight you need to be clinical and Gervinho is anything but.

I agree that he is wasteful with the chances that he gets. But to put him on the bench would be a huge mistake, he has been a huge factor behind rvp's good form as he has assisted alot of his goals and nobody looks at the space he creates for rvp, his runs in behind draw defenders away and therefore create space for others, and the fact that he is creating the chances is positive, the goals will come, but yes i do agree that he has to be more clinical.

He is bollocks. Henry with no legs will score more.

Stuart '0 goals and 0 assists' Downing is bollocks. Gervinho is not.

He's not a bad player by any stretch, he creates a lot of his own chances and can look really good on the ball, but for some reason he just doesn't look confident when it comes to finishing. Hopefully he'll snap out of it, because he really should have scored way more this season.

Thats the thing. He gets himself in great positions only to blow it. Its frustrating because he has everything to be a very good player.

    I think you'll find they're both bollocks!

Exactly, if he works on his finishing, he could potentially be a top player. It's the only piece missing.

No. Downing is but Gerivnho is not. Nice of you to admit that Downing is indeed bollocks. But we watch Gervinho week in week out and we know what his problem is. But, this is a player that finds himself in a new league and country and still contributed with goals and assists. As we have said, he just needs to find some composure in front of goal. Looking at his stats for Lille, he did indeed have that when playing for them. Samir Nasri was the same in his first season and then of all sudden he found his feet in front of goal. Gervinho has time to come good.

Yeah, tbh, I can see Gervinho being much better next season once he's settled. It's a tough league to get used to and takes some players some time.

Also didn't he score fifteen goals in the french league last season???? He clearly can finish don't know where it's gone though. It's weird when he is in goal scoring position he still tries to dribble for another 10 minutes to try and put him self clear on an empty goal then shoot (presumably as he has no confidence in his shooting) this was evident against fulham and even when he scored against wolves. Don't get it so many good positions just hit it with your laces

What do you guys expect for such a cheap player? He was never world class to begin with so god knows why everyone is complaining. He is performing to the best of his abilities, and to be honest, he is one of our best players. That should also tell you the lack of quality we currently have in our squad. Compare this squad to ones in the past and that should answer your questions.

To buy quality you have to pay for it. Don't expect miracles for a few chips.....

Oh and the same principle can be added to Chamakh, Park, Arteta and Santos. They are decent, no frills players that will do "a job". Now that job might not be winning anything, but to keep us going. That was the reason why Wenger bought them, to keep us going.....

The quicker people realise this, the easier it will be to support Arsenal.

You can afford to have some players, but when most of your players are of that standard, you will never get past a certain level. RVP is the only world class player we have playing for us. Chesney and Wilshere will in time and Vermaelen is near that now. Apart from those guys, we have a good but not world beating squad.

The early 2000s we had world class players like Henry, Dennis, Pires, Campbell, Viera, Seaman, Cole.....damn our current squad is pants in comparison lol

  19. And what we have now is because the powers that be have not done their job properly. Sadly it happened to us before. I recall George Graham letting the side grow old. Now we let the great players go and not replace them. Instead we pay big money for apprentices and pay apprentices big money. You know the rest.....
