After being dropped down a division we didn't expect to meet Walsall so soon, but the FA Cup has brought us an away match at the Bescot Stadium this Saturday. With this comes a drop of dread as we don't always do too well down the M54 and our last cup game against them was pants to say the least. Walsall signed Tom Bradshaw who is their top scorer with seven, they also have more ex players in Romaine Sawyers and Dean Holden. The once coveted Ashley Grimes is also at Walsall.

Walsall are not sitting too high up the table in League 1, and have a GD of -2. This however isn't their full story as in the last six games they have scored 8 and only conceded 3 in their home games (so somewhat similar to Town) and lost 3 won 3 games home and away. They are joint 20th with three other teams for the amount of goals scored in L1 with 14 past the opposition in the league. So no matter what we worry about with Bradders they are not the biggest threat we could have come against in L1. Walsall have no injury problems and have a full squad to select from this Saturday. Oddly the BBC only list three strikers on Walsall's books and one is Manset who must be getting on a bit now (he'll probably score now!). It looks like Sawyers sits behind Bradshaw in a 4411 formation.

Shrewsbury have been doing well recently winning all of their games bar the Chelski game. The Dagenham game showed a higher level of fitness that allowed the team to battle until the end and that resulted in a win caused by the constant pressure by the squad, even with ten men. Fitness wise Mangan is still doubtful to start but will be ready to come off the bench as he is getting over his knee injury, Weso should be fit but will Lawrence to the nod ahead of him? Ellis should come in to replace Grandison in the back three. Grimmer and Grant have had their loans extended until January but I am unsure if they are allowed to play.

Let's hope it is a cracking game and we show that we have potential to play against League One teams away from home. Floreat Salopia

34 people have looked at this thread before I just posted, without comment there's no debate, without debate no one bothers coming on here...

Oh how true Matster! I've had a bit of flu ( its no excuse but man-flu can be bad!!) and have been reading posts!
I have tried to invigorate both Burton and Exeter boards but they are moribund!
Ok.....let's assume that Tom has shot his bolt and fortress Otley will overcome Sadlers..... PNE may be interesting if they can prevail!
The season is forming nicely and the occasional setback should only make us enjoy the good bits more. We either haven't got a system yet OR we have an astute team that changes plans dependent on opponents!!
Only five of last season's eight entered this year prediction game.... but its tight......more to follow!
Point for discussing......will we keep the loanees? They seem better than last season's(?)

    Metashrew,
Good point about the loanees. I thought either or both might go back when there was a change of manager at their respective clubs but the fact they did not seems to indicate they are not in current plans (unless injury changes things). I think both have offered us something we did not seem to have before and I would be happy for both of them to stay all season if we can fix that.

Seems like more movement of players will happen in January.

apologies, have been pre occupied on face book , twitter and b and a. looking ahead to the replay on 18th . how long is our main GK out for, will Halstead or Callum play.

if we can win, we must have a better chance of taking Preston and lining us up for another giant in January. round 1 and 2 have been unkind to us. it is up to MMM to show the Blackpool, Leicester, Norwich, Chelsea spirit.

so keep bradders quiet, and beat saddlers, without suspended Woods. Floreat Salopia!

    Atcham,
We may well beat Walsall but I fear for our chances at Preston - saw their game against Havant on BT Sport and (though the opposition was not great) they looked a really classy side even with their main striker not leaving the bench.

if truth is known, my glass is half empty for preston if we get there. but if we beat them, we jolly well deserve a giant.

got my family ticket today from Exeter city for next Saturday. I shall be hemmed in with a load of uncle tom cobleys or not. will leave my "lucky" 2 STFC Teddy Bears Roland and Graham at home in case!

wonder how Lenny is, I think he is at Uni in Exeter.

Well we have the reverse cup game tomorrow. Grandison is available and so is Woods, Mangan I guess is not. Is Tommy Bradshaw available for Walsall?
