Competition - World Cup Group Match
    Date - Tuesday, 16 November 2021
    Kick off - 19:45
    Venue - Cardiff City Stadium

Following their comprehensive 5-1 thrashing of Belarus, next up for Rob Page’s Wales squad is the final group match against group winners Belgium. A point will secure second place in the group for Wales and importantly, a guaranteed home Play Off match to try and secure a place in Qatar.

On Saturday evening, Wales marked Gareth Bale's 100th cap with a thumping victory over Belarus to move up to second place in their World Cup qualifying group.

Aaron Ramsey's rebound put Wales ahead in the second minute before Bale set up Nico Williams to score with a low shot which Belarus keeper Sergei Chernik should have saved.

With Bale taken off at half-time as he made his first appearance after two months out injured, Ramsey extended the hosts' lead with a second-half penalty.

Former Swan, Ben Davies scored his first international goal as his attempted header went in off his shoulder and, after Artem Kontsevoi whipped in a superb 20-yard strike for Belarus, another ex-Swan, Connor Roberts, flicked in from a free-kick for Wales' fifth.

On the same evening, World number one side Belgium sealed progression to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with victory over Estonia.

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke tapped in on 11 minutes after Estonia goalkeeper Matvei Igonen spilled Yannick Carrasco's low cross.

Carrasco smashed a stunning 25-yard drive into the top corner and Thorgan Hazard curled in a delightful third.

Erik Sorga had pulled Estonia back to 2-1 but the visitors were thoroughly outclassed and were fortunate not to concede more goals.

Arguably, the most memorable match between Wales and Belgium took place in Euro 2016 Quarter Final match when Wales came back from a goal down to run out deserving 3-1 winners with goals from Ashley Williams, Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Vokes:

Turning to Tuesday evening, with Belgium already group winners, whilst I’m hopeful that Wales can pick up the point that they need to secure a home Play Off match, I have a sneaky feeling that Belgium will run out 1-2 winners.

    I really hope that I’m wrong <cheers>

    "Arguably"?? In what universe? <laugh>

    :p

I'm quite hopeful for the draw here but this is entirely dependant on Belgium's attitude to the game, considering they've already qualified.

I’m old enough to remember Wales beating Belgium 3-1 at Cardiff Arms Park thanks to goals from Rush, Saunders and Hughes in the Euro Championships qualifying Group in 1990.

We dominated that match - so, for me, the 2016 match is arguably, rather than definitely the most memorable match <cheers>

I was at the match in the Arms Park. I remember another match against Belgium at the Arms Park where Giggs stepped up to take a free kick - I said to my mate - "this would be a dangerous position if we had anyone who could take a decent free kick" - only for Giggs to smack it into the top corner !

However - that quarter final in the Euros is my favourite match of all time - and the Robson-Kanu goal my favourite goal. The way the whole of Belgium went one way and HRK went the other was just amazing. If Ronaldo or Messi had done that we would never hear the end of it. Fantastic night.

I'm hoping we can get at least a draw but I'm also fearful of a hammering as we tend to give opportunities to the opposition, and Belgium have the class to take those opportunities.

Poland's loss at home to Hungary could be Wales' ticket to home advantage in the play-offs <ok>

To be honest, the game in 2016 - is the most memorable and HRK’s goal was outstanding.

I also think that Flynn’s goal against the Jocks in Ninian Park in 1975, when he played a 1-2 with Tosh was brilliant - I was there that day - but HRK’s was better.

Ivor scored a great goal against Hungary in the 1958 World Cup Finals in Sweden - I wasn’t even a year old at the time so can’t remember it

I was at ninian for the Flynn match...I will always remember that for the fact that I had driven up with my mate who didn’t drive and ended up with gout during the game.....hard work driving home afterwards....
Can we do this tonight? Yes if we go for the jugular and not make any bad mistakes

Kieffer Moore is crap. Total crap. Yes he scored the goal, but whenever he gets the ball outside the area he looks like he doesn't have a clue what to do.

Squeaky bum time in Netherlands group. Any of Netherlands, Norway or Turkey could win the group.

I'm not the only one who thinks so then. He also falls over easily for a big bloke. Never rated him.

As for the game... We're second best but I didn't think we looked like scoring, so let's hope we can hang in there.
