If he were to go...and play centrally (or even on the wing). Where could He go? UK: Liverpool - yah but there he will never be central striker (Suarez is kicking) Chelsea - Torres, Falco (soon)...mata, oscar, hazard...he would be the new kalou. City - dont need to comment Utd - on free transfer....maybe but again never centrally(but rvp might say the wing is enough) Spain: barca: they fear him so who knows...but never, ever, centrally Madrid: can't see it Italy: Juve: don't know enough but they did go unbeaten for a long time. So must be someone hitting goals Milan: they have el-shar...scoring lots now I think his status in arsenal is growing and he got wenger who is supporting his view (with time). Where can u see him go?
I think hes going to go and that Wenger has finally decided to put his foot down and prove he will not sell all of his best players, but has made Walcott see out his contract. I hope I'm wrong and he signs a new deal, but tbh Im not that hopeful.
The lack of options and serious interest in him is probably one of the reasons he is still here. Best place for Walcott is Arsenal.
Yes best place for Walcott is Arsenal. However, the most likely destination for him would be Liverpool. They need a winger and cover for Suarez. He would have a good chance of playing centrally for Liverpool than us.
Stupid move from his side, as he would face too much traffic for the central striking position. But if RVP left, no reason why he wouldn't leave. Some of our players have left for lesser reasons.
I think Liverpool would be the only logical destination for Theo, if he were to leave us, which he would be mad to do.
He could play with Suarez down the centre easily. Suarez is better as the withdrawn striker and Walcott's pace aligned to Suarez's trickery could work well.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign a new contract, he might wait so he has a better idea of where Arsenal are going to finish first though.
He'd do well at Man Utd. Nani wants out, Theo is young, English, marketable, and has a great understanding with RvP.
True, no reason why he couldn't play alongside Suarez. He has learnt a lot from playing for Arsenal and RVP .With Suarez's trickery and Walcott's pace, it would make for an explosive duo. Arsenal would be stupid to let him go.
To be honest, I don't think it is Arsenal's decision anymore....it is Theo's decision. He can get some very lucrative offers. Why would he go to liverpool...would he really skip out on CL football?? (but who knows, maybe we r not playing for it next year either).
I don't know what the problem holding up the contract is. As I see it, there are a few possibilities: 1. Arsenal want a long term deal 5+ years and Walcott wants a shorter term contract. 2. Walcott wants 100K and Arsenal don't want to pay as much. 3. Walcott wants something written into the contract about playing in the middle up front. It could be a combination of these things of course. I doubt the issue is the 100K alone. It is far more likely the other two issues that are getting in the way, but if they are, I doubt that any club is going to be too keen on signing a 2 year deal, and giving Theo a release clause if he doesn't play striker for more than half the games he plays a season. The only thing that will bother me is if Theo has one set of conditions for Arsenal and then signs an 80K, 5 year deal, with no "must play as striker" clause for Liverpool. I can understand if Arsenal don't want a short-term contract that starts the dog and pony show again in the summer, or opens the door for other players to dictate tactics.
I'm going with him wanting 90k-100k wages and some assurances that he'll pay through the middle. It's never a good idea when a player dictates terms. Odds on bet Arsenal is holding out on paying 75k/80k max....
I would be surprised if they were to pay him big bucks, there owners seem to be penny pinching and view our model as the way forward, they also have to finance the redevelopment of anfield, while redevelopment will be cheaper than a new stadium it's still going to be expensive. If they got him for nothing then it could mean they could pay him the big bucks but they got burned doing that to joe cole and look how that worked out, so I doubt they would pay him more than us, maybe a few years ago, but not now.
My guess it is about the money and money only. Walcott is not a world class mega superstar able to demand a certain position on the pitch. This is just ridiculous. Just think about it. Do you know about a single footballer contract that includes guarantees about playing in a certain position ??? Walcott looks at Fabregas, Nasri, RVP, Song - al these guys he used to play with, and thinks that all of them became bigger players. Trophies, wages..most of them doubled their wages. He just thinks he is in the same bracket. So it will all depend on the interest from the big clubs, methinks. But in the meantime he wants to pretend that all he wants is to score more goals playing centrally for Arsenal. Simply because he needs fan's support. One thing I do not understand is - if he goes on Bosman he will pocket a huge amount of cash, right. But strictly speaking, Arsenal will be in the same position as any other club next summer, after his contract will have come to an end. If we want to keep him, we will have to re-sign him on Bosman so to speak, i.e. to pay him his market price upfront plus salary, just like any other club. Is that the case? If yes he will be a fool to sign anything before his current contract expires.
I think you are beginning to understand the situation Arsenal are in. It isn't a question of "Selling our best players", it is the fact that there is no incentive for a player to resign at the club that holds his current contract. In fact the reverse is true. It is a complete myth that clubs "own" players at all. All they own is the current contract. When it expires, if the player is wanted by any other club, it is in their best interests to move, not to stay.
