Some people said he didn't have one. I think it's clear he has.
Let's hope he uses it to sign his contract with Arsenal.

He was worryingly non-commital in his post-match interview. Maybe to be expected that he wouldn't go all all gushy and say he'd sign.

My worry is that he tolo might be asking for what RvP asked for - some positive moves in the transfer market by Arsenal to bring top-class players IN.

If that is what he is after, then we might as well say our goodbye to him the noises coming from Wenger suggest he is not going to buy Certainly he was very cool on the idea of Ba.

Why would Walcott want us to buy Ba ?

Also, I don't think he'd base a decision to stay or not based on a Jan transfer window.

I don't know what's holding Walcott up to be honest, unless it's the money. He's got everything going for him at Arsenal, he's playing CF, playing in the champions league and is a key player in our team.

I think Theo's decision has already been made. I really want him to stay but this whole 'playing me out of position' malarkey could well be a smoke-screen and a way to drag out talks.

As TenG notes, his interviews don't fill us supporters with tremendous hope. He seems quite cold and calculating when talking about his options. Hope I'm wrong though!

On the footballing brain comment I think is a ******ed comment, what I will concede is Walcott is more of an instinctive player ala ronaldo or Defoe. While there are other players are more creative and they think more about what they are doing ala carzola, iniesta and messi. That is the difference or distinction people point out but use a silly comment for headlines.

Big question now is if walcott signs do we need to buy another striker? I would say no as we have giroud, pod and theo upfront I would say swap str priorities to a winger/wf or see how hints develop and reasses in The summer. That being said DM is a must

I've already accepted the fact I think Walcott will be gone within a month. Why the club allowed his contract to run down is beyond me so now he's all but gone.

Maybe its just so, if he does sign, Wenger can say "He's like a new signing".

I think he's already made his decison, but I don't think he's cold and calculating, more simply not giving anything away to the media before he's signed - whoever that is with.

He did talk about the CF role and mentioned that he's happy he's playing there, and realises that he won't play there all the time, so I don't think it's ever been about him always wanting the CF role.

Personally, I think he'll sign for us. I know it's been proved otherwise by the likes of Nasri, Fabregas and RVP who I all thought would stay on for another season, but I think it's different with Theo - he's got everything he needs at Arsenal, whereas the others felt that they needed to get their needs met elsewhere.

How can you say, "Why the club allowed his contract to run down is beyond me ..."?

Less than a year ago if anyone suggested Walcott should be made the highest paid player at the club they would have been laughed off the board!

Exactly. Hence the title of this thread. This time last year - despite the fact that Walcott was scoring and providing assists to RVP some people were still saying he had no football brain, no end product, runs into players and loses the ball and only has pace to rely on. That he'd been at the club for six years and was never going to get any better.

Those who were defending him were accused of defending mediocrity. Well he's proved the doubters wrong, now we ALL need to hope that he signs.

    He wants to stay.

Its a case of his agent telling him to hold out of the money he 'deserves'.

He deserves 100+k a week. 14 Goals and 8 assists and we are only halfway through this Season. Wenger is the right man to turn him into a TOP class centreforward.

The 'footballing brain' argument is just lazy. He's scoring, showing good movement and getting assists. Even Alan Hansen has started backtracking.

Walcott has come of age and he is a proper top player now. Pity we are unable to keep top players. To me Walcott is as good as gone. I see him reunited with RVP and playing on the wing for ManU next season. Not long ago most fans would say he would not deserve 100K. Now, if he can keep his form, he is worth 150K easily, and ManU will pay, no problemo. All this news abour bargaining about some 10-15 K is just ridiculous, it makes no sense at all. Probably there is a certain wage structure discussed and endorsed by Kroenke, and the board can not change it. Probably they think Walcott is not the kind of a player to ask the Boss for an exception. Or maybe they asked but Kroenke said no. Anyway, I think Arsene has already resigned to loosing him.

Actually I think Theo made his decision in the summer/autumn, and in some way it helped him to improve - he is non-commital, not nervous in front of the goal, keeps his head cool, he knows he does not need to please his boss any more, the guy is in the driving seat, and I think he is enjoying the situation.

As for "football brain" - there is no football brain. All you need to play football is to have a fraction of your brain not totally dead. This is enough. Just look at Rooney. This is not a rocket science.

There was never any question of Fabregas wanting to stay. All Arsenal fans knew he would eventually go back to Barcelona.Song was found to be surplus to requirements at Arsenal. How are you enjoying life with your new manager ?

Arsenal fans in their thousands said he did.You are mixing up what he wanted and what the fans were saying.

Not sure why the leap to our manager but I will indulge you. I don't really have a problem with him as my posting history will tell you. I have the ability to know that what he said was no worse than some of the things Jose said defending us. It's what I want from a manager.

Very few Arsenal fans were saying that Fabregas wanted to stay.As i've already said the vast majority of Arsenal fans always knew that one day he'd return to Spain.
