dai's argument here is that the land itself is worthless and the people aren't worth protecting, that they should be left to the argentinians to do what they want…..

i believe him that he served in the war, but i fundamentally disagree with his argument. we can't be seen to let argentina bully us into submission here...

That is pathetic. You know as well as anyone here that would lead to a full scale missile bombardment of Beunos Aires and thousand of innocent people killed. Attack once and we'll defend, attack twice and it is game on as far as militaries are concerned.

    Irresponsible comment there Dai.

So a person is so anti-war that he advocates an Argentinian invasion. <laugh> What a Rodney.

what the f**k can this country do now....we are bolloxed and not a force on our own anymore. Any conflict we now go in alone wont win like last time and the usa and nato wont intervine other than dialoge as they are with the Argentine with their support ...<laugh>

no i am not at all. it is you and valley who are losing reality. War is bad, war should be the last resort and not go in there all guns blazing. Thatcher started the war with her criminal act just for political gain and you lot think its great sitting at home while others lose their lives for nothing more than your entertainment. I bet you were glued to the TV set at every moment watching developments as if it was some sort of film, So dont come on here and try to disrespect me for telling you how it actually was because it was the worst thing i have had to endure in my life and could easily have been avoided and nobody would have been killed or in the belgrano's case Murdered. You dont have a clue what you are talking about or the feelings of many who took part...

If Thatcher "started the war" why do you think you were on a ship sailing south? A nice holiday? <doh>

Dont talk stupid dragon, for your information we were on our way back from the far east having spent 7 months away and were diverted to Gibraltar to pick up live ammo and SAS personnel....If you had any idea about the Royal Navy and what we do then you would know we work very hard at sea and its not all about runs ashore in foreign places....Some of you lot could do with a stint in the arm forces and perhaps you would know what being in a conflict is all about and go through the trauma of seeing your mates killed ...

You don't know me so don't presume....Some people just don't trumpet it. <ok>

Nobody has ever suggested war is good or that trauma isn't suffered by those involved in it. But it's naive to be in the Forces and not expect to do your duty, and regrettably that sometimes includes shooting others and getting shot at. If you didn't realise that when you signed up then you were a fool.

    Correct.
He confirms this on a daily basis though so no surprise there.

Dai I have the utmost respect for anyone who served in that conflict but you're the one who denigrated the forces the longer the post continued, not I .I served in a different period and lost a mate and was injuried myself but I knew what I was getting into and have no regrets .I consider my time spent in the forces as probably the best period of my life .You should know as well as anyone that you accept the good with the bad and I bet most of your time was a jolly, most serving members are apolitical due to what they may have to carry out as directed by the government ,thats not to say there aren't / weren't dissenters.there always have been and probably will be once the reality of what they have to do is realised .

Its the ARMED forces btw, which is a big give-away. Its not about the jolly times of non-conflict. And whether you like it or not, the Falkland Islands are a British Overseas Territory, and whether you like it or not, those people have as much right to being defended as you do. If you were not prepared to fight for Britain and its interests, you should not have signed up.

It's "belonged" to various countries over the years, including France, Britain, Argentina, Spain. On what basis does the UK claim ownership? Just because they said so? Always been disputed by Argentina. So why do you think UK is in the right? Just toss a coin. Best of 3.

Uk is short of cash. We could offer to sell it to Argentina. They could disguise payment as something else so that it looks like they won. Problem solved.
