Never once in Argentina's entire history has the Falklands been recognised as their territory by the international community. Not even for a single minute.
Because we leased Hong Kong for 99 years from the Chinese, we then handed back an amazing city on cue. As for your other examples, Australia etc, those countries wished to become independent and so their wish was granted. As long as the Falkland people wish to remain British they will do.
The Falklands will never be able to declare themselves officially Independent from Britain as Argentina will invade as soon as it is declared. Unofficially they are an independent isles but are remaining with us because of the military security we are giving them. In short, we are protecting them from Argentina.
Don't expect that Mikra bloke to understand, or at least show he understands. He knows full well about the democratic vote and he knows full well Argentina has never had official control since the country was created. He also knows full well the Islands do not fall under Argentinas marine territory allowed by international law hence they have no legal claim to the Islands.

The only reason the Falklands debate is back in Argentina is because that bitch in charge is doing a piss poor job and she is responsible for the economy failing again, there are riots happening there in the streets and the whole Islands thing is her attempt to look good in the eyes of the voters. My view (and yes this the Life of Brian argument) is that we claimed these countries as a raw expansion of Empire to fuel our massive economy but at the same time you cannot deny the benefits it brought too by bringing much needed infrastructure and civilisation to countries that were living in the dark ages. That's what the Greeks did and the Romans too. We gave India and othe countries the concept of elected Parliaments and the rule of law that still exist today. The Aborigines of Australia were so backward as a culture that they didn't even invent the wheel. Where would Australia be today if a colonial power hadn't invaded? Yes, we were brutally oppressive at times and that should be deplored, but without benefit? Hardly. The worst colonial power by far was Spain because they brutalised the indiginous peoples of South America and wiped out many cultures, usually in the name of Christianity. But history has shown that with some exceptions we have always acceded to individual nations' desire for independence. Usually this has resulted in no better lot for their people. India's wealth is improving of late so much so that they have a space program yet it has remained a nation of beggars with hundreds of people hanging off trains travelling on railways we built that have hardly been improved since the days of the Raj. Many African nations are basket cases after their colonial powers withdrew or were expelled. A continent awash with corruption, poverty and despotic dictators. But you can debate the rights and wrongs of our colonial past as much as you like - we are where we are and raking over history probably doesn't help.The fact remains that the right of self determination is enshrined by the U.N and the Islanders want to remain a British OT, so the Argies will almost certainly never get the Islands back. Furthermore, this 'protest' should never have been part of a football match.

If Spain invaded British territory then yes we would be at war with them. Obviously they wouldn't be that stupid though.
