Thought he had a really decent game yesterday, yes he has the odd mistake in him, (so have most of them) but is always committed and leads from the back.. sometimes guilty of distributing a unnecessary long ball, not always finding the target.. but definitely improving..
He has been much better this season than last. I think the extended run in the team has really benefitted him.
Greetings from sunny Cyprus. All players have mistake in them. Vyner will always have more than most. He's slow, can't turn or pass and worst of all switches off. He's more of a threat in the opposition's box. Just a matter of time before he screws up again and wouldn't get a look in but for our injuries and being one, unusually, of the very few who have a right foot.
I have to admit his game has improved this season and I wish him well for the team's sake. In the longer term I think he will be replaced as we need a truly solid player in that position and he is still prone to the odd goof up. Time and tide will tell the story.
This season.. Naismith’s mistakes v Vyner’s mistakes.. I wouldn’t say there’s much in it.. But I agree he has his limitations..
Your all missing a vital point he was played in his best and correct position yesterday central defender not out on the right. He played very well with Cam Pring. Thought we we were in for a tanking. Swansea were bang average nothing special apart from their number 9
Thanks RR, fair play. I hadn't seen the set up so playing centrally will negate some of his problems. A team such as Swansea who play pass pass pass make the life of ungainly cumbersome central defenders easier as they have far more time to get their 'ducks in a row'. But honestly if he stays right side in a 3, a team who play a more direct game, Vyner will have problems. They'll play down the sides, get him turning and exploit his lack of pace. Remember when he played RB earlier on getting exposed, the poor sod didn't know if he was coming or going. Teams will also be aware of his concentration levels at set pieces. He's having an extended run in the side because of our injuries. If Atkinson had a right foot Vyner would have only ever made the bench. Back to playing him centrally, who knows, it's a fair point. But who plays right side ?
RR In time it might be Kalas Vyner and Atkinson in a 3 allowing Naismith to play in front, have a word with Nige.
Atkinson doesn’t have the pace to cover when Sykes bombs forward. I have said before, and will say again, whoever plays at RCB will have problems due to Sykes bombing forward and not getting back as quickly as JDS does on the left.
Supcon72 Who's advocating Atkinson playing right side ? Pretty sure Kalas would 'advise' Sykes where he should and shouldn't play.
