The implications for VW are massive , with so many potential claims as individual owners , Fleet operators, hire companies, dealers ships the list could be endless. This could be the end for them financially , although not sorry for the directors etc but for the millions of workers and owners , one thing for sure it'll make any PPI claims look insignificant .
We all know the figures quoted in the brochures don't reflect reality but this really is a Company driven worldwide fraud .

Thing is about the gulf of Mexico spill is it was accidental. VW have sold cars to US customers knowing that they spew out up to 35 times the legal levels of noxious gasses. They could well be finished after this.

How can you misspell BP? <laugh> Sorry, Phil.

VW deserve all they get. If this spreads to other firms it'll be bad news for manufacturers everywhere - but why not get Western governments to agree that all fines be put into the camps in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon? What a great gesture that would be. Of course it won't happen.

I drive a VW Passat and I'm expecting it in on a recall.

The interesting thing is cars are sold on the emissions, now if the cars are pumping out more emissions than the manufactures claim, then the road tax of the cars will be incorrect.

So will the DVLA then go after the drivers for the extra cost in the road fund licence.

Now that would be one hell of a can of worms.

The fines well we're talking billions, 18bn wiped off shares to date, 12bn estimated fine from the U.S. and 5bn to sort it all out.

Glad you spotted that! It stands for British Bandits, and was a deliberate corruption of the obvious British Petroleum..........:1980_boogie_down:

Well you could say it was 'accidental' but the reports that I read stated clearly that BP new that their contractor was taking unacceptable risks that would make the inevitable happen, and that risk was acceptable by BP, matter of fact there was a vast trail of negligence on the part of BP also...<ok>

You may have the car recalled but more likely it'll be determined by the manufacturers run dates and by other means of the manufacturing process which will identify the individual vehicle whether it has a dodgy chip installed . just get the ecu remapped , there's plenty of dodgy back street garages out there .<laugh>

Shocking statement what about the environment, I suppose it'll be another Humvee for you <laugh>, the ones who should also be heavily criticised are the powers who pushed hard saying that diesel fuel was the future , what a crock of **** that was .
