I really love this little guy.

He's looking every bit worth his 6.7m.

He was shakey at the start, but if a foreign player comes in and starts to make significant impact after a couple of months then that's fantastic.

He's adjusting to the pace reasonably quickly, his pace is dead handy in the middle of the park, his passing good, and he plays a vital part in our build up play. Those nice little passes.

He's also a very instinctive player, that belongs in a quick passing move.

His shooting is dreadful when he had seconds to think about it, but if he only has a second, his shots on goal are very good. Like his goal vs Brugge, he only had one touch and it was a beautiful volley into the net.

He's made some dreadful efforts in recent matches, but if he has move quickly and get his shot off, he often makes a good effort on goal.

He's very good in that free role, and very difficult to deal with.

I like this little formation -

    -------Ba-------Cisse-------

    -----------Anita--------------

    ---Perch---Tiote----Jonas------

    Santon--Colo---Willo-----Simpson

    -----------Krul--------------------

I hope when Ben Arfa and Cabaye get back, we can move Ben Arfa into that free role, and move Anita back to Jonas' position. Then Cabaye can take Perch's positon.

This 4-3-1-2 formation could work well. 3 defensive midfielders, 1 attacking mid and two strikers.

Lets face it, the only one that provides a threat from the wings is Santon, so we might as well not play wingers.

Not bragging, but I've suggested that formation many times before...

Anita looks a quality player though, the only one of our midfielders to look like he cares this season imo.

He is looking fantastic. I like him where he is now. If you want to play like that I'd drop Jonas and move Marveaux into free role. Personally long term I'd like a new centre back, left back and wide left player to play as follows:

    -----------Krul------------
    Santon--Colo--Kouyate--Willems
    --------Anita--Tiote-------
    Benni-----Cabaye-------Ince
    ------------Ba--------------

I thought he looked poor when he first came (and said so) but also that we could only really judge him after christmas as most players take a few months to settle. He's improved steadily and is now looking solid, shame the rest of our team aren't doing the same!

ps. From what I've seen of Santon recently he's looking like he's well and trully settled too.

I prefer it when Anita is in space. He's quick, decent with possession and can tackle... I think he's played better when he's played on the right side of the pitch, than when he's DM or CM. He's not a winger, and it shows, because he gravitates more centrally as time wears on in a half, but it works well when he's MR because Simpson offers wider support. A more refined attacking full-back and it might be incredible.

Does he have the range of passing and finishing ability to become a good AMC? Not so sure.

Whilst agree it's pointless playing with width when attacking, you have to look at where we are conceding goals from, wide areas! We are yet to score from any sort of crossed ball in the league this season. (can't really class Ba's handball vs Reading as a proper goal) and we've now conceded 8 headed goals, the most in the premier league!!

Also, what's the point in playing Ba and Cisse together with one creative player behind, that formation would end up with lofted balls up to Ba and Cisse and neither of them can be a target man and both of them have a **** first touch, Ba's being statistically the worst in the entire team with 8% being catergorised as "wild".

We are limited of what we can do but the continual attempt to play Ba and Cisse together he been our major downfall. It's one or the other as a lone striker with midfield runners supporting them from wide, much like we seem to be doing lately. If we just stopped crossing the ball and tried to work the ball a bit more we'd look better. Many of our crosses into the box are from deep and are hopeful at best.

This is my formation on FM, always works wonders haha.

Anita has done very well for me so far and is looking like a EPL player. Head and shoulders above most of our other players atm.

This formation is a beast but only if you have quality wing backs, which I dont think ours are currently. Santon will develop into one andi would continue with him but Simmo would only be cover for me atm,.

    NO!
    NO!
    NO!

You do not want Willems, trust me in this. He's like Büttner: good in forward action but defensive a massive liability. In comparison with Büttner he lacks experience, age, speed and technique. No.. just no...

Don't take it too literal Cove, I doubt we'll get Ince or Kouyate either. More just plucking players to show how I'd like to play to get best from Vurnon. Willems looks like a player in development to me, defo more attacking than defensive as full backs go. Any left backs you are aware of under 26yr old who might be worth a punt??

None in the Eredivisie at the moment. But Bram Nuytinck at Anderlecht is a good defensive prospect who can play LB and CB. But never EVER go for Willems, he's a youth player, not a hot prospect or anything. He's in the national team because we've got no one else. The Dutch academy's are fully focussed on midfielders, wingers and strikers. Good solid defenders and LB/RB's who have a good set of defensive skills are very rare at the moment. I'd say look in the Italian league for proper ones.
And I'm pretty pissed of for people dropping Willems' name because he's in the national team that makes him automatically a hot prospect.
I die a little inside everytime I see his name in the possible targets lists of the various clubs in the EPL.
