Wouldn't know since I wasn't watching but saw the score I thought of you and your "keep a clean sheet" theory...
The missed penalty was a nuisance but what does Milner have to apologise for? It's the rest of the team who should be apologising to him for putting him in that position, lazy bastards
As much as I hate Milner, missing the penalty can happen at any time and to anyone. It was just a lifeless performance and confirms that we don't have the players who can operate in tight spaces or provide width. Soton were compact - we have to create our own space by dragging players out of position and using the flanks.
Our style under Klopp heavily relys on pace, of which we have one player in Mane with pace. Teams just turn up to Anfield and sit as deep as they can and we don't know what to do, but when they do push forward we can't counter effectively.
I agree, and yet, Klopp keeps saying since he arrived that we have the players he needs and how pleased he is with the squad he inherited. One of three things: he really believes that to be the case, which would be mysterying. He is trying to pump up the confidence of his players. He just wants to shut the press up.
I'm sure its a bit of the last two. Clearly not keen or able to buy who he wants in the January transfer windows, but last summer he brings Mane in and now we are heavily linked to players like Brandt and Chamberlain. I am sure he is aware of the problem.
You HATE Milner? That's pretty sad Jimmy mate. Don't think I could ever hate a Liverpool player, I might dislike them (ala Moreno) but I don't HATE him. What's he done to deserve being hated? It's not his fault he's played all PL games this season and he's now worn out. Have to blame Klopp for that I'm afraid - do you hate him too?
Diouf? I really didn't like Harry Kewell towards the end of his time with us either. / I like Milner, noone puts in more effort for the club and he's not an arse off the pitch either.
I don't hate Milner, but when Rodgers got him I thought he was taking the piss; he's a City reject and not exactly world class. Since then all we've had in terms of quality is Mane - and that's it. Klopp has had three windows...
Every city fan wanted to keep Milner as did the club itself. He's not a reject. Hes a solid prem player. Someone that'll give you 7/10 in near enough every game. Won't win a game on his own but you can rely on him to do a solid job. People have shown the guy a lot of disrespect this season. He's done a job he hates, he's openly said he hates, isn't his best role. It has put the club first. How many players throw a strop when don't do what they want? He's done it decently at start of season and has had no competition for his place and has tired and performances have dipped no question, but are people really blaming our lack of scoring on him missing a pen? If we're reliant on a penalty to be scored in all our games just to win then we don't deserve any top 4 place. The defenders main main job is to keep a clean sheet, everyone moans our defence is ****. Defence keep a clean sheet, and instead theyre blamed for not winning the game. Keep a clean sheet and only need to score 1 they say. Yup, but our forwards are so **** without 1 player unless teams open the door for them to walk through.
What a dire game that was, obviously happy with the point but was well dull zzzz We set up well defensively but offered absolute nothing going forwards. Was def a pen for me, but a decent save from Forster and think he got into Milners head a bit. Hopefully that performances tricks someone into thinking he's a top gk and offering 10-15 million for him. Not sure if we a did a really good job of negating you today or if you were a bit ****? Bit of both maybe... 4 clean sheets against you this season is impressive though.
He's been much better this season than he was last season, that I do know, and today was just one of them. No, I don't hate him, but he's been an acquired taste for me tbh, and he is old. But where are the big name players we've been promised? It's not just because of top 4. We came 2nd under Rodgers and they still didn't come. We keep on and on spending money on lemons, telling ourselves they'll come good. We need them to hit the ground running now not in the future. Tomorrow never flippin' comes in our world.
Over two seasons I think Milner has been our most consistently good player. Manes the best player of the season, and an in form Coutinho is unstoppable, but Milner has consistently put in a decent performance no matter what out of position place he is put in. He's never going to be a fancy player targeted by Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Dinamo Tiblisi, but he's a very solid player.
Well I was late back from golfQ (nice 23° day, had match recorded but didn't bother as I heard result on the way home...went out and BBQ instead...while drinking ice cold beer and watching United let us get away with one....I ate 2 Angus beef burgers...3 sausages in baps, a sirloin and chicken wings with a bit of salad thrown in for show... Life is good my men ...life is good...
Sounds ****ing ace. I was up at 6am with kid... Wifey accused me of not cleaning up after cooking her dinner last night.. and frankly i left her at it yesterday... Thenobody I did Sunday dinner... and left her clean that up too. And worse than that had to watch lfc.
I think we can all agree we desperately need a squad over haul. Some very ragged players by the end today. Even with small amount of games the very small squad has told. Whether it's quality or pace that's needed we just need more senior numbers
We need winners. Someone, anyone to take a chance to try and win the game. Too many cowards out there today!
