"VOTE" or "NO VOTE"?

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Livtor, Sep 7, 2014.

?

Should we vote to help determine LFC-not606 board thread statuses?

  1. Yes - we should draft some inclusive choices and let LFC members vote their preference

  2. No - let the mods do their work as they have been doing

Multiple votes are allowed.
Results are only viewable after voting.

Should the LFC fans of LFC-not606* have a democratic vote regarding basic principles of what should constitute a "sticky", "closed" or "merged" thread?

(*non LFC fan vote will be subtracted from count)

If 51% vote yes, then we will have to work on coming up with some definitions and have a second vote.

If 51% vote no, then it all ends here and mods can continue to mod as they have been doing.

Note: This is only asking whether we as members should have some basic notions to go by when it comes to stickying and merging/closing threads. Moderators will still have ample room to operate within those principles IF they choose to go with the vote (if there ends up being one).

    i don't have a preference really.

if a thread doesn't interest me i wont post on it, doesn't matter if its stickied or not, and it doesn't clog the board up really.

also closing a thread, well its down to the mods really what they are there for to try and make the board as easy and hassle free as possible lol.

merging can get annoying as some threads do deserve their own thread, but i can also understand why they are merged as it is all under one subject, be nice to elaborate on certain things though, which can get lossed in merged items.

overall not fussed to be honest, fine as is, keep up the good work you spineless batards <laugh>

With this being point scoring and arrogance I would request that this is closed.

No sorry but the terms are too wide. It's not a democracy when it comes to deleting, merging to try or close threads

Those tools are there for a reason and needing a vote is a) not going to happen and b) allow chaos to ensue

I'm happy to have a poll once in a while on what is sticky and what is not, just like we offer poll on forum banner (which we still don't have)

If a thread gets out of hand it's our responsibility... Not our right... We volunteer to have to take stick to serve the board. I added delete I know but think this way if I see a thread bady out of kilter our two things doing the same thing I have to make a call

So sometimes op is fine with it sometimes no but that's how it works

You vote us in and we've rotated mods a lot I think and have more than any other board

  8. Just to make it more interesting (and perhaps tempting for some), if Liverpool posters vote for yes then I'll quit as mod!

I'm all for fewer stickies. Sometimes threads need to be merged/deleted, etc.

I don't care if it is formalised or not- although it's sometimes hard to describe every scenario.

just as well the rules are fairer here, than on the other thread with a poll :bandit: (yes, yes vote lol)

    you would be ****ed <laugh>

in all seriousness i think this thread and the other one should be done with, as things are starting to get a little silly.

we don't want to lose any good users.

It's a non issue mate the place is fine we're all questioning it because of one idiot. Like I've said the board changes by itself and has done many times it doesn't need someone pushing for his own way.

  16. I've been considering quitting anyway (ask DR and Gonzo) so thought this would make it more fun. I'd obviously ban Livtor as my last act as mod mind :D

Yep I've talked you out of it a few times, people can moan but you put a lot of time and effort into trying to keep everyone happy if you step down because of this clown then something is very wrong.

Agree... I'm satisfied with the board. Doesn't need to change... but don't care if things are formalised or not as long as there is major wriggle room to allow mods to act outside the lines when needed and have the power they need... although if you give the wiggle room- why formalise?

I think the mods do a good job of sorting out and policing the board. Its a thankless task at times.

Bit like traffic wardens they are a necessary evil to avoid chaos.

    Oh the irony ...

Traffic wardens have mostly been replaced by more accurate and efficient traffic lights, haven't they?
