http://www.thefa.com/news/the-fa-cup/2014/mar/player-of-the-sixth-round Meyler is up against Giroud and 2 wigan players
Meylers been superb this season, he's similar, but better than Ian Ashbee for me, (i know i'm gonna get it in the neck for that), he does the donkey work that some fans seem to find it difficult to appreciate. He's got a goal in him also. Davies is without doubt, the player of the season, but i might just have Meyler in second place.... or maybe Elmo.
Definitely - he was one of my 'borderline' players when we were promoted. Wasn't sure if he would quite be good enough for the Prem, but pleased to see he's proved me totally wrong. Having said that, Alex Bruce has also proved most of us wrong too.
I thought he was immense against wet spam. Man of the match for me.i can see the comparison with Ian ashbee. But he did it game after game for years.
I think Steve Bruce said a while ago that we are only just seeing the best of Meyler now as it has taken him a long time to recover from an injury he had at Sunderland. Meyler says himself that he knows he is not technically as good as other players but he is there to do a job which is why Ashbee is a good comparison they are both no nonsense get stuck in type of players.
I didn't think much of him until this season. Always thought he'd be that kind of 'play a bit for a decent team in the Championship but would have to go if they went up' type player (they exist you know). But i've seen a fair bit of you this season and (for me) he's been better than Livermore (who a lot of people on here rave about).
Meyler just needs to stop throwing himself to the floor like a ponce, rest of his game is getting better.
They've alternated in form. Livermore started off absolutely brilliantly, outshone even Huddlestone in my opinion, but he's started to tail off a bit second half of the season as Meylers picked up. Livermore when at his best is better than Meyler, no doubt about that, take nothing away from Meyler but that is simple truth.
The only games I really saw of you in the first half of the season were against the bigger sides and you were beaten in all of those I think (apart from Liverpool when he (aid of massive deflection) scored, but even then I didn't think he had a particularly good game). One of those playe who are never seem to have particularly impressive or disastrous games. Steady and reliable if you like.
I agree, teams are about balance, and he certainly bring the right type of game to complement Huddlestone.
****ing hell, did I really write that? A sincere apology to all Grammar Nazis. Still, I stand by what I was trying to say. Other players tend to shine more in game when you play well. Very similar to our Drinkwater, he doesn't shine but he's still been nominated the 3rd best player in the division, neutral fans would look at players like Schmeichel, Nugent, Vardy, Knockaert, Moore, Dyer, Morgan etc because they shine when they play well (but they don't 'shine' all the time). Players like Drinkwater and Livermore are vital cogs in sides like ours. They do the dirty, run all day and play effective, free flowing football and leave the goals and the flash to others.
we don't give a **** about ****ing DRINKWATER now or any of your other ****e players you post utter nonsense, we don't give a flying **** about lesster
Honestly Brady, what is the ****ing problem? He was giving a decent comparison on how both Livermore and Drinkwater were similar in relation to their position in the team. Do you intentionally try to argue with Andy on every thread?
