Just trying to work out the best result for us here. Presumably a home win which pushes Bolton into more trouble? What about an away win that brings Villa clearly into the mix - my thought process here is that potentially Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn are more likely to pick up wins in remaining games than Villa on current form!! And then a draw helps neither club...... Any other thoughts?
Bolton to get beat is by far the best result for us.They have 2 games in hand,we need to keep them and Blackburn below us!
a draw or Bolton loss please!. If we beat stoke, then it might be enough(depending on other results)..lose against Stoke and.....
I think a Villa win is best for us, keeps Bolton even further below us, Villa will be above us whatever happens tonight. A draw would be 2nd best. A Bolton win could well mean we will need more points to survive than otherwise.
A villa win please , then bolton need 5 from 4 to get above us , which personally think they will struggle to do. I want to work on the assumption that we might have enough in the bank already to finish above bolton and blackburn , in case we have a night mare of 3 defeats.
The psychological spur involved in an away win for Bolton at Villa Park would present more problems for us than almost anything else.
Agreed... Villa win = option #1. But a draw wouldn't be a disaster. Still 3 pts behind us and we do have the superior goal difference that is worth a point at this stage. A Bolton win would be the worst result possible. Right up behind us with a belief that might escape - that we do NOT need!!
thats right nuts they must get something out of it, come 9.40 when the scum have lost your see villa have picked up 3 points & we are happy agin.
A 9-0 Villa win preferably with a few red cards. I'd be flabbergasted if it's anything but a low scoring draw given McCliesh's penchant for 0-0s and Bolton being a woeful football team that we have managed to lose to twice. They've had some very good fortune recently against ourselves, Swansea on Saturday and away at Wolves and really should be far further back than they are.
Mcleish looks a dead man walking.. if they lose to Bolton they are unlikely to get another point from their last 3 games and the same freefall happened to Birmingham last year If only Bolton were playing anyone but them
Just been over to the Villa board, to see how worried they are...deathly quiet is an overstatement, and except for a few WUMers stamping around, all you can hear is tumbleweed blowing around!! Villa team must realise that it is really a relegation survival match, if they win they will have got themselves nearly over the line, at the expense of Bolton. But I just wonder which team wants it more....I suspect Bolton do and that worries me.
rubbish of course it is ... there are formations, premonitions and tactics to discuss plus if any player is going to be hit by a stray astroid etc you are not the full ticket swords
