Aston Villa have agreed to Bolton's request to postpone Tuesday's Premier League match and sent their best wishes to Fabrice Muamba.

The Bolton midfielder remains in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest in the FA Cup quarter-final at Tottenham on Saturday.

Aston Villa were due to host Owen Coyle's men in league action in midweek but have now released a statement to confirm the game will not go ahead.

"The thoughts and prayers of Aston Villa Football Club are with Fabrice Muamba and his family," read the statement.

"Our thoughts also extend to his teammates, the management staff and all at Bolton Wanderers Football Club at this terrible time.

"The Club, without hesitation, has agreed to Bolton's request to postpone our Barclays Premier League game scheduled for Tuesday at Villa Park.
